Principal Corner Dear St. Bruno Families, Along with the arrival of winter, we begin the third quarter of the school year! As promised, we will have new projects, new goals and new challenges. We are all - students and staff - setting our sights on our best level of achievement in the second half of the school year. Your students are working on some impressive projects and presentations for Catholic Schools Week! I hope to see you here on Sunday for our Open House and Winter Carnival, and again on Thursday evening for Academic Night. You may just be amazed at the high quality work your St. Bruno students have to show! BEAUTIFUL NEWS TO SHARE: Your student’s artwork is on display at the Waukesha County Courthouse! The St. Bruno Art Exhibit, lovingly installed by Mrs. Cathy Stewart, is on view through Thursday, January 30. Elsewhere in our newsletter, see the complimentary letter from the Office of County Executive Paul Farrow, which includes directions and hours for visiting. Congratulations, Student Artists, and many thanks to our art teacher, Mrs. Stewart, for making this exhibit happen! Thank you to those parents who stopped in to our Meet ‘n’ Greet for Mrs. Robin Wohlfeil, our new piano teacher. In case you missed it, Mrs. Wohlfeil is scheduling lessons on Mondays and Tuesdays and expects to begin around the first week in February. She will teach private ($25/ half hour) and group lessons ($15/half hour). Registration forms will be sent home soon to all families who signed up so far, and please call the school office if you are interested in getting your student on the schedule. We had a GREAT response for students to be involved in masses this coming weekend for the start of Catholic Schools Week. Thank you for sending permission slips for your children. Those students who offered but did not get assigned will be invited to be part of a Welcome Weekend mass in the near future. Parents, I will check dates with you. It is very important to show our students to the parish in our weekend mass attendance and participation! Work on the 2019-2020 school budget is underway and I am reminded of the great level of financial support provided by St. Bruno Parish. Parish members truly appreciate the active presence of our school families and students. CONTINUED ON PAGE 2

St. Bruno is a School Choice School
HERE IS WHAT IS HAPPENING IN YOUR PARISH… Come and join in! Take time to reflect on Scripture
On Sunday, February 10, you are invited to join fellow parishioners at St. Bruno in reflecting on the Sunday readings before you attend 10:30 am mass. We will meet in Mr. Phillips' classroom at 9 am. We will have prayer, breakfast casserole (to be consumed prior to the one hour fast before mass/communion) and coffee/ tea followed by discussion of that day's readings. Please take some time to read them before you come if possible. (Click on the date in the calendar to find the readings of the day found at http://www.usccb.org/bible/readings/011319.cfm ) For planning purposes, please RSVP to Mary Kral in the parish office.
Join the next Alpha course
Alpha is coming! Join with others to talk about Jesus, prayer, the Bible, and more. We start with a meal, watch a video, and then have time to talk in small groups. Getting together to share about our faith is not something many of us do on a regular basis; those who have been in the past Alpha courses have said small group discussion was the best part of Alpha. Others have started reading the bible more regularly as a result of Alpha. Someone else said "Alpha introduced joy and peacefulness." Why not give Alpha a try? Come to at least the three sessions! Maybe you will feel, as one Alpha guest did, "a reawakening of what it [faith] is supposed to be." Alpha starts January 31 at St Bruno, sign up on the parish website (click on the Faith Formation tab) or call Mary Kral directly to join the next Alpha course. Bring a friend, anyone is welcome. PLEASE NOTE—Even if you cannot attend the first Alpha session because of school activities, you are welcome to join us beginning in week two. Alpha runs through Lent, consider getting a jump start before then on a routine that will bring you closer to our Lord in 2019.
Mark your calendar, PLAN to attend March 11 and 12, 6:308pm. The theme is "The place where you stand is holy ground." A Parish Mission at the beginning of Lent is a wonderful opportunity to start this holy season in a strong way!
