Principal Corner Dear St. Bruno Families, If you have been to the airport in Milwaukee (which, incidentally, as of yesterday, is named Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport), you have seen the “Recombobulation Area.” That’s how school feels this week as we all get back on track after four days away due to our recent weather! We are getting back into our routine and getting recombobulated! SCHOOL REGISTRATION IS OPEN on our school website. You will see a notice about this elsewhere in our newsletter. We ask you to put this at the top of your family to-do list and register your children for 2019-20 before March 1. This helps us to plan for next year, and it gives you the Early Bird Discount!! Families in 3K, 4K and K5, please look into the Wisconsin Parental Choice Program and see if you might qualify. It is only at those ‘entry point’ grades that students who are already at St. Bruno may enter the Choice program. (Students from another school or a home school setting may come to a Choice school at any grade.) If you even think you qualify, do apply, because the tuition benefits are great. If you know another family who may qualify, please invite them to look into the program or call the school office. If you would like more information, feel free to call me in the school office. The easiest way to look online is: www.dpi.gov and then search ‘Private School Choice Programs.’ MAKEUPS from Catholic Schools Week: Our school wide Spelling Bee is this week Thursday, Feb. 7, at 1:00 in the gym. More news on Pajama Day when we get closer to Dr. Seuss’ birthday. Good news: due to our calendar and the length of our school day, we will not, as of this date, need to make up any snow/cold days. Because of the great showing of our students who participated in masses on Jan 26-27 for Catholic Schools Week kickoff, St. Bruno students will be invited to be ‘Student Ambassadors’ on upcoming Welcome Weekends at St. Bruno Parish. Watch for Sign Up Genius opportunities for your students to be a Greeter, Gift Bearer, or Bulletin Passer. This may just be the opportunity your family needs to get back into the habit of attending Sunday mass. Lent begins March 6, and there is another time to, as the song goes, Come Back to Me, and attend mass regularly. Thank you for making the effort for mass to be part of your family’s routine. A Great Opportunity to Get Your Family Involved in the Parish Community… School Participation in Welcome Weekends
We are looking for school families to assist Betty Igl on the 3rd weekend of each month for the St. Bruno Parish Welcome Weekend Social Period. Each month, Betty arranges to have complimentary food and beverage offerings provided after the masses on the 3 rd weekend of the month, encouraging parishioners to stay and enjoy a refreshments and fellowship. Betty would appreciate a few extra sets of helping hands with set up and clean up for this monthly event. It would be most helpful if she could count on the assistance of one adult and a couple of children (Ideally one school family could sign up as a team) to help with setting up food and beverages, replenishing items throughout the event and clearing/wiping down tables as the event finishes. We would love to see community building between our Parish and School families AND this would really help Betty out immensely! We also have the opportunity to participate in the mass during this weekend. Please click here to sign up .
CLIP THOSE BOX TOPS Keep clipping and collecting. At 10 cents each, these add up FAST and are a PAINLESS way to give to school! We submit on a quarterly basis, and our last check was $134. Let’s try to double that for next quarter! THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

HERE IS WHAT IS HAPPENING IN YOUR PARISH… Come and join in! Take time to reflect on Scripture
On Sunday, February 10, you are invited to join fellow parishioners at St. Bruno in reflecting on the Sunday readings before you attend 10:30 am mass. We will meet in Mr. Phillips' classroom at 9 am. We will have prayer, breakfast casserole (to be consumed prior to the one hour fast before mass/communion) and coffee/ tea followed by discussion of that day's readings. Please take some time to read them before you come if possible. (Click on the date in the calendar to find the readings of the day found at http://www.usccb.org/bible/readings/011319.cfm ) For planning purposes, please RSVP to Mary Kral in the parish office.
Join the next Alpha course
Alpha is coming! Join with others to talk about Jesus, prayer, the Bible, and more. We start with a meal, watch a video, and then have time to talk in small groups. Getting together to share about our faith is not something many of us do on a regular basis; those who have been in the past Alpha courses have said small group discussion was the best part of Alpha. Others have started reading the bible more regularly as a result of Alpha. Someone else said "Alpha introduced joy and peacefulness." Why not give Alpha a try? Come to at least the three sessions! Maybe you will feel, as one Alpha guest did, "a reawakening of what it [faith] is supposed to be." Alpha starts February 7, at St Bruno, sign up on the parish website (click on the Faith Formation tab) or call Mary Kral directly to join the next Alpha course. Bring a friend, anyone is welcome.
Mark your calendar, PLAN to attend March 11 and 12, 6:308pm. The theme is "The place where you stand is holy ground." A Parish Mission at the beginning of Lent is a wonderful opportunity to start this holy season in a strong way!
