We have added the full selection of Floriani embroidery thread. New fabrics arrive weekly from a variety of fabric companies. In stock a large selection of panels for baby quilt, wildlife quilts and more. We have marked down the Mettler Polysheen thread. It is located in our sale area on sale for Buy one Get one Free. This includes the variegated and metallic thread in that collection. Anita Goodesign Company continues to ship new designs in once a month. Dakota Collectible's spinner display is updated once every 3 months with new designs added and some of the older design packs are marked down. Party with Patrick Club A New Exclusive Club! Oh Sew Much Fun! Patrick Lose, fabric designer, pattern designer, and author has introduced a new monthly club. Party with Patrick will be an open door party for all club members. Join the club for $45.00 per year. Once per month, come on party day and receive your special monthly project pattern, and recipes. Stay for some refreshments and we'll teach you any special techniques for that month's projects. Bring your machine and work on the exclusive project. The first date is April 20th at 10:30, sign up today and join the fun.
Quilters Quest Shop Hop
We will be 11 shops strong this year with a new shop joining our ranks. Purchase your passport and bag at the shop of your choice and start making your plans for May 19th 22nd Shop Hop. The quilt blocks are completed and photographed for printing. Donations for daily door prizes are rolling in. We will be collecting nonperishables for the food pantry. Last years' nonperishable donations were so very appreciated by the food pantry and the recipients. The shops are again collecting nonperishables for the local food pantries. With your donation to The Yardstick food pantry collection you will receive a coupon for a discount on a future purchase.
QFL Quilting Football League QFL social club is off to a good start after our Kick-Off Meeting on April 9th. There were games, a door prize and points earned by all. Frank brought in some cookies to give them energy. Janet is our referee for this year and is working on some fun events. There will be a Mystery Quilt project for QFL members on May14th at 10am. Have you become a member, if not it is not too late to join for a $20 fee for the season. There are lots of points for you to accumulate and fat quarters to win. It is a great way to meet fellow quilters and share ideas. In addition to the local points there are many shops in New York and other states where you can add to your points and play games. There are national prizes awarded every month with a grand prize awarded to someone after the conclusion of the season on August 31st. As a member you can visit the website each week, log in and download something new. Just to recap the membership benefits join fellow quilters while reaping the benefit of exclusive discounts, food, fellowship, local and national prizes, social events ( mystery quilt, pot luck meal, charity event, possible road trip to some of the other shops and more).
Upcoming events Floriani event will be on July 29th and 30th with Darlene Pollard. The cost will be $30 for a session receive a $500 value as well as special pricing the day of the event . Full information will be announced closer to the program date. This will be held at The Yardstick in Cobleskill, NY. Sew and Quilt with Sue Hausmann will be held on Sat, Oct 8th. Spring-Summer Class Schedule Block of the Month
(Learn to piece & appliqué one block at a time)
Tues, May 10, Wed, June 8, Tues July 12, 10-12 With Barbara Beginner- $45 for 3 months + supplies Learn how easy and fun it is to make a quilt. Know how to quilt already join the class, increase your knowledge of piecing and appliqué and make new friends. We will be doing a new block each month using the quilt as you go method. All blocks will be 12" finished and can be combined to make a Sampler quilt or more of the month's block and create a project each month. There will be an extra charge for individual lessons.
Paper Piecing Basics Thurs, May 12 10-1 or 6-9 With Betsy Beginner - $ 25 + supplies Paper piecing is a wonderful method to produce accurate blocks even if you are a beginner. This class will teach you the basics and then let you soar with any project you choose to do in the future. Book required.
Twists and Turns (Use any brand of embroidery machine that can do a 5” or larger design) Tues, May 17 & June 14 10-1 With Barbara Beginner+ - $20 + supplies Create traditional quilt blocks, in a non traditional way. EmbroidaBlock designs are quilt blocks created in the machine embroidery hoop. Have you seen the 10 month Crazy Compass and TNT quilts hanging in The Yardstick and wanted to do something similar! This is a great way to be introduced into EmbroidaBlock piecing, and quilting in the hoop by repeating the same block to complete the quilt. This is also a great way for newer embroidery machine owners to get to know their machine with repetition. Design multi format CD required.
Floriani Suite Embroidery Software Sun, May 8, June 12, July 10 1-3 With Nancy Beginner - $15 per month Join Nancy each month to learn to get the most from you embroidery software purchase. There will be a new exercise presented each month. This hands-on classes is a good way to learn.
Learn to Sew Basics Thurs, May 26 2-5 or 6-9 With Barbara Beginner - $20 + supplies Learn how to thread your machine, wind a bobbin, and what foot to use for each task. Bring your manual if you have one. Learn how to read a pattern. Make a pillow with a zipper. There will be an extra charge for an individual lesson. Teens welcome.

The skills you learn will be useful for future projects. You will be picking the fabrics to do the projects. All supplies will be provided. The fee includes instruction, snack and use of a sewing machine for the week. The students will be eligible to purchase a machine at special student prices.

During this week long class, the kids will learn to cut and piece a lap sized quilt. The Class fee covers all supplies, instruction, snack and use of a sewing machine.
