Transfer News! Liverpool Tracking £10m Italian Defender Sports Liverpool are keeping tabs on AC Milan left-back Mattia De Scigilo ahead of a potential summer move according to reports. The 24-year-old, who has 18 months remaining on his contract at the San Siro, is also the target of Juventus who are said to be the favourites to sign the Italian international. Highly rated two footed player

Mattia De Scigilo rose through the youth ranks at AC Milan before making his professional debut for the San Siro

club in 2011 aged just 18. He has since gone on to become a regular in the side and has earned 30 international caps for Italy at the age of just 24.

The defender is rated as one of the best two-footed players in Italy. He can play in both full-back positions and has appeared at both left and right wingback for the Italian national team.

Impressed for Italy

He was part of Italy’s Euro 2016 team who impressed en route to the quarter-final stage before they were knocked out on penalties by Germany although De Scigilo did score his spot kick. His solid performances for both club and country have attracted the attention of some of Europe’s top teams.

One of these teams is Liverpool who have been keeping tabs on the player since October according to reports in the Italian media. The Reds will face competition from Juventus however who are favourites to sign the defender.

18 months left on his contract

De Scigilo still has 18 months left on his contract at AC Milan so Liverpool would need to pay a fee in the summer. There is a £10m buyout clause in the full-back’s contract which would be a relevant bargain considering the Reds paid £15m for Alberto Moreno.

However, this fee may get higher if other clubs join the race to sign him. Barcelona are also looking at the player as they look for an established full-back.

Liverpool need a left-back

The left-back spot at Anfield has been a problem position for a while now with James Milner having to deputise there this season. The former Man City man has done a decent job but he can’t be expected to occupy the position forever. This is one of the positions Klopp needs to sort out in order for the Reds to mount a serious title charge next year.

Liverpool are also rumoured to be signing 16-year-old Fulham left-back Ryan Sessegnon who’s been dubbed the next Gareth Bale. He looks a hot young prospect but De Scigilo would offer Liverpool a more proven, experienced option at left-back.
