TRAVEL SHOW TAKES OFF AT INVERNESS AIRPORT Holidaymakers planning their next dream trip are being invited to check in at Inverness Airport next week as the Highland gateway hosts a major travel show. Airlines, travel agents and car hire providers will be among those exhibiting in the airport terminal on Tuesday 12 February. Inverness Airport currently offers holiday flights to a range of Europe’s best loved destinations, including the Italian Lakes, the Mediterranean island of Sicily, and Portugal’s Silver Coast. New for 2013, the airport will also offer packages to the French Riviera and some of Switzerland’s top mountain resorts. Passengers can also enjoy a Mediterranean Cruise aboard luxury cruise ship MSC Splendida, with packages including direct flights from Inverness. Holidaymakers can also choose from a number of scheduled international destinations including Bergen, via Sumburgh, and Zurich. And with direct flights to Amsterdam, operated by flybe, holidaymakers can also visit one of Europe’s most vibrant capital cities, or connect to 150 worldwide destinations with flybe’s codeshare partner KLM. Closer to home, Inverness Airport also offers direct flights to Jersey, the UK’s sunniest holiday destination, as well as the Scottish islands of Benbecula, Lewis, Orkney and Shetland. VisitScotland, flybe, Loganair, KLM, Alba Travel, Newmarket Holidays, C.I. Travel Group and Avis are among those attending the showcase event. Flybe will be offering exclusive discounted flight prices to Birmingham,

Manchester, London Gatwick and Amsterdam for bookings made on the day, as well as a chance to win a family short break to Drayton Manor theme park, including flights and accommodation. Inverness based Alba Travel will also offer a range of new holiday packages to Switzerland, including stays at the mountain resorts of Interlaken, Grindelwald and Davos. Other offers include business lounge access at Inverness Airport provided by Servisair and complimentary airport car parking as part of the holiday package. Airport managers hope the travel show will tempt more Highlanders to support their local airport. Inverness Airport Manager Graeme Bell said: “Inverness Airport will offer a fantastic range of holiday destinations this summer, including some enduring favourites such as the Italian Lakes and Portugal’s Silver Coast, as well as new destinations like the French Riviera and the mountain resorts of Switzerland. And with flights to the European hub of Amsterdam, there really is a world of opportunity for holidaymakers looking to travel further afield, with connections to one of KLM’s 150 worldwide destinations. “We hope to encourage holidaymakers across the Highlands to start their trip from Inverness Airport, with a range of special offers including free car parking. Flying from Inverness is faster and more convenient – why start your holiday with a three hour drive to Glasgow or Edinburgh, when you can fly from your local airport?” The travel show will take place in the airport terminal on Tuesday 12 February between 2.00 and 6.00pm. Free car parking will be available to anyone attending the event.
