Tutorial Letter: Guidelines for Examination Operations Management (OM301) Semester One 2014
Dear Student This tutorial letter covers the outline of the May 2014 examination. The examination will be in the following format: Four (4) questions, 25 marks each. All questions must be answered – 100 marks. The complete syllabus is important for the examination; however students should pay particular attention to the following: 1. Students need to understand the role of an operations manager. 2. Strategy is extremely important to any business; students should understand this concept. 3. Students need to understand the purpose of product design. 4. Planning and controlling are key to a successful operation, students should understand these concepts. 5. Quality; without this the operation will fail. Students listing only the theory will not be awarded full marks, application of the theory is important.
