Weddings at Trinity A wedding is a joyous occasion and at Trinity Church our goal is to make this event a memorable and spiritually rich experience for you, your families and guests.
Holy Matrimony is the exchange of vows between two people in the presence of God. Through this sacramental Rite, the couple receives the grace and blessing of God to help them fulfill their promises during a lifelong union and publicly celebrates their commitment to grow together in faith and love.
Weddings at Trinity follow the canons of the Episcopal Church and are performed according to the Rite in the Book of Common Prayer (1979). It is not necessary to be an Episcopalian in order to be married at Trinity, but one of the persons must be a baptized Christian at the time of the ceremony. A member of the Trinity Church clergy will conduct premarital counseling with the couple, which is required by the canons, and the Trinity clergy will perform the marriage ceremony.
Trinity and the Surrounding Community Trinity Church with its rich history and deep roots in the Fairfield and Southport area has been a center of Christian worship and community since 1724. The current structure with its soaring spire dates back to 1862 and was completely restored in 2002. Steps from the beautiful shores of the southern Connecticut coastline, the church is in the historic village of Southport, offering an inviting seaside location to exchange your vows. Southport is a convenient stop on the Metro North train line and is a short ride from New York City and Boston. You can also capture memories along the streets of the old Village, overlooking sailboats at Perry Green on Southport harbor, or at one of several beaches in town.
