Overview​: Entry level course in welding, covering units in shop safety, oxyacetylene setup and use, and welding (both GMAW and SMAW). The course is designed to introduce the student to tool fundamentals, proper equipment use, materials, and careers in the welding industry. Objective Students will understand and demonstrate competencies in the arc welding process and be able to operate an oxyacetylene unit or an arc welder safely.

Classroom Policies Be in your workstation ready to work when class starts. Be Respectful. You are expected to listen to and work with your peers. Come Prepared to learn and have FUN! Cell phones are not allowed in class nor the shop. Safety glasses, welding helmets, jackets and gloves will be supplied. Absolutely NO HORSEPLAY allowed in the welding shop. All are expected to assist in shop cleanup (

Grading Work not turned in at assigned time will receive a 10% penalty. Assignments and test scores vary. While in the shop students earn daily work points for being productive. If the student is absent, they are allowed to make up time. If the student is not productive or unexcused absence, they may not make up the time. 4 pts / day for being productive Homework is not assigned, but uncompleted class assignments turn into homework
