BUTLER WOMEN’S SOCCER 2016 Game Notes

Butler at Georgetown I October 9, 2016 I Washington, D.C. I Shaw Field

UPSET-MINDED BULLDOGS

Butler will face a ranked opponent for the first time this season when they travel to Washington D.C. to face the Hoyas. The Bulldogs last win vs. a ranked foe came in 2013 when they knocked off the #11 Michigan Wolverines 1-0 on Sept. 15. McKenzie Muchow came up with the game-winning goal in that contest off a double assist.

LEAGUE LEADERS

Butler leads the BIG EAST Conference with a .889 save percentage. The Bulldogs also top the league with a .443 goals-against average.

13-FOR-13

Three Bulldogs have appeared in the starting lineup in all 13 games this year. Serina Kashimoto, Brenna Pawelkowski and McKenzie Muchow. All three players are upperclassmen and all three are listed as midfielders.

READY... AIM... FIRE!

Serina Kashimoto and Paige Monaghan are responsible for half of Butler’s shots on the year. Kashimoto has taken 46 shots, one more than Monaghan. Only five other players on the roster have hit double digits, giving BU a grand total of 182.

BOUNCE BACK

The Bulldogs have not lost back-to-back matches since 2014 when St. John’s and Providence secured road wins vs. BU in overtime.

SENIOR DAY

Senior day will be held on Oct. 16 with the women’s soccer program honoring McKenzie Muchow, Serina Kashimoto, Hannah Farley and Tessa Faulkens before the match.

LUEDTKE ON PACE TO MAKE HISTORY

Goalkeeper Hannah Luedtke has been phenomenal for Butler through the first 13 games of the season. Her numbers include five shutouts, 45 saves and a 0.50 goals-against average. Luedtke is now on pace to break the Butler single-season goals-against average school record which was set by Julie Burton during the 2012 season (0.69).

KASHIMOTO APPROACHING BU HISTORY

Serena Kashimoto will look to place her name in the Butler women’s soccer record book in the coming weeks after a fantastic start to the season. The senior midfielder leads the team in points (20) and goals scored (8). Her assist total (4) is also tied for the team lead. To reach the BU top ten list, Kashimoto will need three more goals, four more assists or eight more points. As a junior, Kashimoto was named First Team All-BIG EAST, First Team All-Northeast Region, and Second Team All-America. Those accolades landed her on the 2016 Women’s MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List (NSCAA), a prestigious individual award in college soccer presented annually to the outstanding female player of the year.
