Today we’re starting a new series called “In Christ Alone.” For the next 13 weeks, we’ll cover one chapter each week, give or take a couple of verses. The book of Hebrews is about the sufficiency and the supremacy of Christ.
Scholars can tell us when and where and by whom most New Testament books were written, but not so with Hebrews. It was written maybe as early as 70 A.D., maybe as late as 80 A.D. Neither do we know who wrote the book of Hebrews. Some have said Paul, but very few scholars believe this. Some have speculated that it was written by Barnabus. Chapter one teaches us that Jesus is supreme, above and beyond all others.
There also existed in first century Jewish culture an elaborate belief system about angels.
Hebrews one tells us that Jesus Christ is supreme. 1. Who Jesus is. The Bible tells us that Jesus is God. ___________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________ 2.
