3. Read Colossians 3:16-17.  Summarize this passage in your own words:



What do you learn about God from these verses?



What does this passage command us to do?

6. Compare Colossians 3:17 with 2:16-23. Instead of a list of rules, how are we to determine what we do in word or deed in whatever situation we find ourselves?

7. Compare Colossians 3:16-17 with Ephesians 5:18-20. What is similar and what is different? What do you learn by looking at these two passages together?

Digging Deeper – Discovering more about God’s Word 8. Paul says that whatever we do, it should be done in the “name” of the Lord Jesus. What does this mean? Use a concordance or other Bible help to study the concept of things being done in the “name” of God and of Jesus in the Old and New Testaments.

Main Idea: You are holy, now be holy! Exchange sinful practices with saintly practices to now be holy. (Colossians 3:5-17) Seven ways to now be holy:

Looking Up – Talking with God about myself and my Life Group Take time to play or sing a hymn or worship song together as a group before you begin your time of prayer.

Winter Life Groups meet the weeks of January 10 to March 13, 2016



Believe who God says you are – holy and dearly loved (Colossians 3:12; cf. 2:11-12)



Connect to community – Trust others with you (Colossians 3:12-15)



Supernaturally love – Commit to God’s best for others (Colossians 3:14)



Umpire your relationships with Christ’s peace (Colossians 3:15)



Saturate yourself with God’s Word (Colossians 3:16)



Whatever you say or do should be an expression of Jesus in you (Colossians 3:17)



Be thankful (Colossians 3:15-17)
