SURE-LITES Installation Instructions - EEX Series L.E.D. Edge Lit Exit Signs For Self Powered Wall, Ceiling and End Mount

READ AND FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Do not use outdoors. Do not mount near gas or electric heaters. Equipment should be mounted in locations and at heights where it will not readily be subjected to tampering by unauthorized personnel. The use of accessory equipment not recommended by Sure-Lites may cause an unsafe condition. Do not use this equipment for other than its intended purpose. Servicing of any parts should be performed by qualified personnel. Under normal conditions, the LED display is a lifetime unit and does not require replacement. If necessary, LED displays are available from the factory.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
CEILING, WALL OR END MOUNT INSTALLATION Step 1. De-energize the circuit at the recess junction box (J-box) where the exit sign is to be installed. Step 2.
Extend unswitched 24 hour AC supply of rated voltage from the junction box.
Step 3.
Knock out the appropriate mounting pattern on the mounting base to fit the J-box being used. For WALL or END MOUNTING, orient mounting base in direction of arrow pointing up. See Figure A. Route wires through the wire access hole and securely fasten the mounting plate to the J-box with screws.
Step 4.
Connect power supply accordance with local codes. Wire connections as follows: 277V line to Orange lead; 120V line to Black lead; Neutral to White lead. Cap unused line lead. See Figure B.
Step 5.
Insert the wires into the appropriate push in connector located on the canopy transformer, see schematic (Figure B) for details.
Step 6.
Tilt the canopy and hook the tabs under the mounting plate and push down in place to latch. Thread the canopy screw into the mounting base to securely fasten.
Step 7.
If necessary remove the cover and plug from housing to route the connector through the opening required. See housing (Figure D) for details.
Step 8.
Replace cover and plug. Hold housing near canopy and connect corresponding inline connectors and push connectors and wire into canopy. Keep wire above LED Display Board. Place housing "T" shaped opening onto the canopy nose and slide housing until canopy latch engages and locks. See Figures C, D, E & F.
Step 9.
Check installation by gently pulling on housing and canopy to ensure it is securely held in place, also check that center canopy screw is secure, do not over tighten.
Step 10. Energize AC supply, LED display will illuminate.
LENS PANEL INSTALLATION Step 1.
Remove Lens from bag, if required insert the WHITE OR MIRROR BACKGROUND PANEL into center opening. See Figures C, E & F.
Step 2.
Orient lens in correct direction, tilt and gently insert lens into housing, depressing and engaging latches preventing removal.
Step 3.
Check installation by gently pulling on lens to ensure it is securely held in place.
OPERATION: 1.
To test Self Powered units, depress test switch. LED Display will remain lit when switched to battery power.
2.
Remove test switch, LED Display will operate with AC supply.

MAINTENANCE: 1.
Servicing of any parts should be performed by qualified personnel. For replacement parts see fixture label for proper identification of catalog number.
2.
Replace batteries every 8 to 10 years according to ambient. Equipment should be test regularly in accordance with local codes.
3.
CARE OF LENSES: Wash with mild glass cleaner and soft lint free cloth to remove dust or finger prints. Foam type, anti-static, anti-fog cleaner and non-abrasive, lint free wipes are recommended.
CAUTION: This equipment is furnished with a sophisticated low voltage battery dropout circuit to protect battery from over discharge after its useful output has been used. Allow 24 hour recharge time after installation or power failure for full load testing.
TROUBLE SHOOTING HINTS: LED DISPLAY DOES REMAIN ON OR CHARGE INDICATOR OUT BEFORE TEST. 1.
Check AC supply - verify unit has unswitched 24 hour AC supply.
2.
Charge indicator light on - LED DISPLAY does not light. Unit is shorted or battery is not connected.
3.
Battery discharged-permit unit to charge for 24 hours, and then retest. If LED DISPLAY is still off, check charger for charge function. If functioning properly replace battery.

Replace cover and plug. Hold housing near canopy and connect corresponding inline connectors and push connectors and wire into canopy. Keep wire above LED Display Board. Place housing "T" shaped opening onto the canopy nose and slide housing until canopy latch engages and locks. See Figures C, D, E & F.
Step 9.

LENS PANEL INSTALLATION Step 1.
