January  13,  2013   Doug  Smith  /  Ryan  and  Katrina  Bedwell       “Moving  From  Darkness  to  Light”  Pt.  2     John  writes  using  contrast:   • Love  for  the  father  /  Love  for  the  world.   • Christ  /  Anti-‐Christ   • Light  /  Darkness     Light  represents  goodness,  purity,  God’s  nature,  but  also  what  brings  us  out  of  the   dark.       What  is  spiritual  darkness?   • Accepting  cultural  ideas  which  impede  our  ability  to  follow  Jesus  and  oppose   our  theology.   • Believing  that  we  are  able  to  live  in  darkness  and  the  light.     My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous. He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins and not only our sins but the sins of all the world

.

Ryan  and  Katrina  shared  their  story  from  moving  from  darkness  to  light:     • What  did  you  think  and  how  did  you  feel  about  Ryan  and  Katrina’s  story?   • What  inspired  you  about  their  story?  Do  you  think  it  was  important  to  share?   • How  do  we  define  dark  and  light?  Do  “grey  areas”  exist?   • How  have  you  felt  God  working  in  your  life  over  the  past  couple  of  weeks?
