Dear Families, Welcome to the last newsletter of the term. As you know, next week will be a short week for students as Thursday is a professional development day for staff. It does mean that the girls will have a break of two and a half weeks and it is very important that everyone taking GCSEs this year spends some of that time revising. It has, as ever, been a very busy half term with so many opportunities both in and outside the classroom. I work with a number of schools and the way in which EGA students embrace new experiences and commit to their own learning and development is really quite remark able. It is not the same in every school. It was very exciting and pleasing to see EGA mentioned in a leading Sunday paper last weekend. Apparently proximity to the school is one of the reasons why Kings Cross is a great place to live! The new term starts on Monday 16th April and it will be week two of the timetable. In the meantime, enjoy the break. Yours sincerely,

A Sports Relief write-up from our Sports Leaders

In Sports Relief Week, students have been participating in events to help raise money. At lunchtimes, House Captains ran different clubs that students paid a pound to play. On Monday, there was a ‘Just Dance’ Competition in which several students competed to get a prize for being the best dancer and a prize for being the best duo. Thanks to everyone who took part and to the PE Department for organising such fun events! Fahida Islam P4 JRO

Year 9/10 Football League On Thursday 14th March 6 students from year 9 and 10 continued to participate in an ongoing competition at the Arsenal Hub after school. Only Urswick, from Hackney, participated this week but they had 2 teams. EGA played Urswick Team 1 and Team 2 twice, and they proved to be very strong opposition! Unfortunately, EGA lost all their matches. However, they demonstrated great commitment, dedication, perseverance and resilience and we're very proud of them. Sports Relief - A Full Week of EGA Activities!

They will also be playing more matches this week. Well done to Tanya Unutkan, Ermisa Bobolli, Rasiha Direnis, Lyathe Seddiki, Hayat Hassoun-Fernandez and Rania Hamasaleh. Ms Silva

Thursday- 'Hoola Hooping Competition'

This week we held a number of activities to raise money for Sports Relief. Not only did every PE class participate in the Mile Run or Swim, but we had lunchtime activities going on as well. There was something for students and staff to get involved in every day:

Friday- 'Inter-house Rounders'

Monday - 'Just Dance Competition'

Ms Burnett

Tuesday- 'Skip-a-thon' Wednesday- 'Teacher vs Student Game' (The year 8 students played against teachers in a game of bench ball at lunchtime. Everyone got involved. The teachers won (of course!) but the students showed great sportsmanship and were excited to participate.)

Thank you to everyone for your involvement and for raising money!

GCSE Food Preparation Here are some pictures of Ms De Bruin's students completing their final GCSE Food Preparation Exam. Well done for your hard work and resilience girls!
