10 MILE ROUTE NETHERD SCHOOL – TOFTWOOD – DAFFY GREEN – WESTFIELD – NETHERD SCHOOL
ROUTE DIRECTIONS
Starting from Netherd School: Turn right along Norwich Road (as if heading towards town, then turn left into Greenfields. Take the footpath towards Greens Road industrial estate.
Follow Greens road towards town and cross over the road between Kwik Fit and Roys (watch out for traffic). Turn left at Roys and follow the road through Toftwood, passing under the underpass. Watch out for traffic, especially when crossing the A47 slip roads. Get onto the right hand side of the road when safe to do so, and turn right when you get to Stone Road (just before 3km).
Follow Stone road out of Toftwood (beware of traffic when the footpath runs out and you go round a couple of bends), and turn left onto Broadway (just after 4km).
Follow this road all the way to the end, then turn left at the junction, just before 7km. Up the hill and follow the bends round to the right. Follow the road until the left turn signposted to Shipdam, just before 8km.
Just after 9km, this road will end in a T-junction, at which point you will turn left. From there, follow the road past some farm buildings until you get to a bend in the road. Go straight on (effectively the left turn).
Shortly afterwards, the road bears to the right whilst a farm track goes straight on – follow the road to the right.
Follow the road until it crosses the main Shipdam road, and cross over (be careful of traffic!). Follow the road on the other side which bears leftwards.
Shortly after 12km, you will reach a staggered junction.
Take the left (signposted Dereham road), and follow the road all the way through Westfield back into Toftwood. Keep following the road straight and you will arrive back in Dereham by the Vauxhall garage. Turn right here to head back the way you came, towards Roys (again, taking care when crossing junctions, particularly the A47 slip roads). Cross over at Roys, and head back up the Green’s Road industrial estate to the footpath that leads back to Greenfields.
At the end of the footpath (still retracing your steps) turn left onto Greenfields and follow it back to the Norwich Road, where you will turn right and back to the school to finish.
