Hours Of Operation: Sunday - Thursday: 11am - 10pm Friday - Saturday: 11am - 11pm Orlando has no shortage of Latin and tapas (small plates) style restaurants, but 100 Montaditos is offering something unique to this trendy niche. 100 Montaditos specializes in serving up small, snacksized sandwiches (called montaditos), ranging from $1 to $2.50. The idea is that you order 3-4 of them (they come with a side of chips) and a drink in order to sit with a group of friends and share food with one another. This communal sharing of food and drink is an important aspect of Spain’s culinary culture. Owners, Roberto and Laura, truly embody the spirit of such a friendly, inviting tradition. They see 100 Montaditos as a place to gather with friends and enjoy the ambience of an “ancient Spanish tavern” as Roberto calls it. The interior is reflective of this description with hanging lanterns and 19th century photographs of the beautiful Cadiz, the oldest established city in Spain, on the wall. The tables aren’t the massive booths you find in most restaurants and are well suited to intimate conversation with friends. As for their claim of having “the true taste of Spain.” I say that you can’t get much more authentic than a franchise that actually had its start in Spain. Thirteen years ago, 100 Montaditos opened with great success that has led to additional openings all over world, including London and Paris. Now, they’ve opened their new location in

The first thing you’ll notice is the sheer variety of menu items. They have everything from grilled chicken and pulled pork to burger and hotdog meats. And yet, the Spanish tastes are still prominent with selections such as serrano ham, iberico ham, chorizo, and manchego cheese. The sandwiches are truly the focal point here with a whopping 100 choices, hence the restaurant’s name. They come served with your basic potato chips, which most would argue is the quintessential side for any sandwich. You have the choice of adding on an order of french fries or brava potatoes, which are essentially potato wedges. The fries are a real treat and have a wonderfully crunchy and thick batter. The bread is the star of the montaditos and is specially imported from Spain. It’s not baked until the moment you order; however, which means your bread is delivered to you fresh, warm, and crispy. The recipe is a secret, of course, but they’ve nailed it. It’s good enough to eat on its own without any accompanying toppings. They have a few varieties of bread, including whole wheat. Still, their classic style is the most popular. Another not-to-miss section of their menu is the Spanish mixers they offer up as beverages. These are a variety of wine cocktails, including the most well-known sangria. They are a refreshing delight and I highly recommend their popular tinto de verano, a traditional summer drink in Spain, which is made with a mix of red wine and a carbonated beverage. Here, they use Sprite as the mixer. In addition, 100 Montaditos offers traditional Spanish beers, wines, and soft drinks so you’re certain to find something for everybody.
