8 HOURS per week    

All freshman student-athletes (SA) Student-athletes who render themselves academically ineligible for NCAA competition Earn a term GPA below a 2.0 and/or placed on academic warning or probation due to cum GPA or consecutive terms below a 2.0 Returning SA’s whose term and/or cum GPA is between 2.1-2.59

6 HOURS per week 

Student-athletes whose term and/or cum GPA is between 2.60-2.8

4 HOURS per week   

Transfers entering their first semester at UVU Student-athletes who have been absent from college/academic rigor for 1 -2 years Student-athletes whose term and/or cum GPA is between 2.81-2.99

2 HOURS per week 

Freshman and Transfer student-athletes whose term GPA is between 3.0-3.2 after their first semester

0 HOURS per week  

Freshman and Transfer student-athletes who earn a term GPA of 3.21 or higher after their first term of enrollment at UVU may be released from study hour requirements Returning SAs whose cum is a 3.0 or higher and/or have demonstrated consecutive terms of 3.0 or higher may be released from study hall requirements

COUNTABLE HOURS



Wolverine Service Center (WSC): SA must sign in using Grades First “swipe card reader” and check out to be credited hours.



Academic Labs: (Math, English, Chemistry, Biology, Physics etc.) The student-athlete must receive prior approval by their Athletics Academic Advisor and return the study hall form indicating the hours completed at the lab to their Athletics Academic Advisor.



Group Study: SA must provide meeting time, location and time spent with group to their Athletics Academic Advisor to receive prior approval.



Professor’s Office Hours: SA must return the study hall form signed by their professor indicating purpose and length of visit to their Athletics Academic Advisor for approval.



Tutors: Resident tutors will be available in the WSC Mon. – Thurs. When tutors are met on campus in their office areas or tutor labs, the student-athlete must return the study hall form indicating purpose and length of visit to their Athletics Academic Advisor for approval.



Team Travel: Study hall conducted on away trips by the coaching staff must be provided to their respective Athletics Academic Advisors by email prior to 12:00 noon on Monday. If a team returns later than Monday, they must be submitted within 24 hours upon return. The Head or Assistant Coach must submit the hours. Student-Athletes are not to self-report the hours.



Coach Proctored Study Hall: Time and location must be submitted by Head or Assistant Coach to their Athletics Academic Advisor for approval.



Mentor Meeting: SA will be credited 30 minutes towards study hall for each Mentor meeting.



Library: The Library may count if the Head Coach signs off on their Student-Athlete Hours.



Educational Impacting Disability: SA must meet with their Athletics Advisor to set-up a specific study plan and accommodations.



Teams on required NCAA APR plans must follow the requirements of the plan. No exceptions!



Any unique circumstances supported by the Head Coach will be handled on a case by case basis and must receive final approval from the Director of Academics and Sport Supervisor.

STUDY HALL REPORTS Study hall hours for the previous week will be submitted to each Head Coach no later than Monday by 12:00 noon

Coach’s Choice (submitted by coach to their respective Athletic Academic Advisor) Coach’s Individual Study Table (2 hours; time/location submitted to their respective Athletics Academic Advisor) TO BE DETERMINED by Academic Services in consultation with Head Coach and Sport Supervisor

GRADE CHECKS Grade checks will be sent out electronically “GRADES FIRST” to each Student-Athlete’s professor twice a semester. Other grade checks will be conducted by Athletic Academic Advisors as needed.
