11-12U Majors Division League Rules Villages Baseball Association (VBA) follows all Cal Ripken Baseball official rules unless modified or changed in the following. Copy of the official rules is available by contact to the League President or Head of the Umpires. A. Full GAME is 6 innings. Time limits set by the league: no inning may begin
after 1 hour 50 minutes, on Weeknights and 2 hours on Saturdays. Playoff Games, 6 innings NO Time Limit. Once an inning is started, it is to be completed. There is NO drop dead time limit! B. Ten run rule applies after 4 complete innings or 3 1⁄2 innings completed, if the
home team is ahead. C. If a game ends in a tie score after 6 complete innings of play AND there is time
on the clock to begin a new inning, that inning should NOT be stared and completed. If there is NO TIME on the clock...than the game shall be recorded as a TIE GAME. Refer to Cal Ripken Rule book for handling tie games. D. There is an “ON Deck” position in the Majors. The first batter of each half
inning is permitted outside the dugout along with the “ON Deck” batter who is the next batter due up. E. There is a strict “NO HEAD FIRST SLIDE” rule except for a runner returning
to a base! If runner slides head first into a base trying to advance, the runner is “Automatically” ruled “OUT”! F. NO CRASH RULE AT HOME PLATE- If an offensive player is clearly going to
be out at home plate; he must give himself up or slide. On a close play at the plate, all players are encouraged to slide, if an offensive player makes any attempt to injure the catcher by maliciously slamming into the defensive player, the offensive player will be automatically called out. (NOTE: This is purely an umpire’s judgment call).

G. Continuous batting orders are utilized with each player in uniform participating.
Players on the bench for defensive purposes are included in the batting order and take regular turns. H. All bats must conform to Cal Ripken specifications set in the rule book. I.
If a player who appears in the lineup is injured or becomes ill, during the course of the game and he/she can no longer continue to play, he/she will be taken out of the game and the lineup. His/her spot in the batting order will be “skipped” without penalty provided there are a minimum of 9 players in the lineup. If the injured or sick player reduces the lineup to 8 players, the 9th batter is out each time he/she comes up. He/she may only re-enter the game with the approval of the opposing Manager and must be placed in the same position in the batting order.

BUNTING is allowed by all batters, however, swinging freely after showing bunt after the pitcher begins his delivery (i.e., slash-bunting) is NOT allowed.

7-8 limit to 50 pitches per day 9-10 limit to 75 pitches per day 11-12 limit to 85 pitches per day 13-16 limit to 95 pitches per day Exception to the rule: If a pitcher reaches the limit imposed for his/her league age while facing a batter, the pitcher may continue to pitch until any one of the following conditions occur: 1. That batter reaches base; 2. That batter is put out; 3. The third out is made to complete the half-inning.
L. A pitcher that delivers 41 or more pitches in a game cannot play the position of
catcher for the remainder of that day. M. A pitcher may not re-enter as a pitcher after they are removed. N. ONE balk warning per game (not one for each type of infraction, or one per
inning) will be given to each pitcher, with no base runners advancing. O. Pitchers league age 14 and under must adhere to the following rest
requirements. 1. If a player pitches 66 or more pitches in a day, 4 calendar days of rest must be observed. 2. If a player pitches 51-65 pitches in a day, 3 calendar days of rest must be observed 3. If a player pitches 36-50 pitches in a day, 2 calendar days of rest must be observed

4. If a player pitches 21-35 pitches in a day, 1 calendar days of rest must be observed 5. If a player pitches 1-20 or more pitches in a day, 0 calendar days of rest is required P. A player may not pitch in more than one game in a day. Q. In suspended games resumed another day, the pitchers of record at the time
the game was halted may continue to pitch to the extent of their eligibility for that day, provided said pitcher has observed the required days of rest. R. At any time, the umpire has the right to remove a pitcher he believes in unsafe.
A pitcher who hits three (3) batters during a game shall be removed immediately. S. A pitcher will be immediately removed if he intentionally hits a batter and is
subject to permanent expulsion from the league. The Scorekeeper or a Coach MUST keep & record Pitchers’ pitch counts and report to the umpire when a pitcher has reached their limit.
