More Attendance News This week we had 9 classes achieve their 95% target – congratulations to 1T, 2D, 2V, 3I, 4R, 5A, 5S, 6M and 6B. As a whole school we achieved 95.6%. This week we were delighted to award the following certificates: 1 Halfway to Bronze Award 2 Halfway to Silver Awards 5 Silver Awards to o Brett Pearson o Freddy Perfect o George Owusu-Banahene o Josh Newman o Meena Amery 9 Halfway to Gold Awards 48 Gold Awards (a roll of honour follows later in this newsletter)
Dinner Menu Next week we will be using
Menu 3 Dinner Menu Please can we remind parents that on the current menu Mondays and Fridays are ‘meat free days’. We have had a few children recently expecting ‘normal’ sausages and being upset because they don’t like the vegetarian version. A copy of the dinner menu can be obtained from the school office or can be found on our website at: www.shawprimaryacademy.co.uk Parents/School Dinner Menu
Congratualtions to everyone who received a certificate this week.
Housepoints Congratulations to Topaz who were winners of our housepoint competition this week. The placings were: 1st Place Topaz 230 pts 2nd Place Emerald 229 pts rd 3 Place Sapphire 226 pts th 4 Place Ruby 223 pts It was a very close competition this week with just 7 points separating 1st and 4th place.
What’s been going on this week..?
This week it was the turn of the year 4’s to visit Hever Castle. After having some time exploring the wonderful gardens, they were ‘let loose’ into the maze. Sometime later…….children slowly began to find their way out of the maze and safely to Miss Skingley. After even more time…..Miss Skingley had to enter the maze to try and save those that were stuck. Luckily everyone made it out safely! The children thoroughly enjoyed their audio tours of the house and came away with an invaluable experience and vast knowledge, which they have shared with Miss Rydings and Miss Skingley. We even caught a glimpse in the distance of Henry himself, but unfortunately didn’t get to meet him properly. We hope year 5 have just as wonderful a time as they year 4’s. On Wednesday some of our Yr 6 pupils took part in the last part of their Bikeability training. They have one last challenge to complete – more about that in the next few weeks.
Today it was the turn of 1T to share their learning
with their parents. They have been studying ‘Our Local Area’ as their topic this term and told us about where they’ve been and what they’ve seen. They also told us about some of the stories they have listened to and some they have told. They recounted the story of “We’re Going On A Bear Hunt” Pie Corbett style (with actions)… thank you Miss Tomlinson and 1T for sharing your learning with us today.
