BIG EAST COACHES TELECONFERENCE The BIG EAST men’s basketball coaches will hold a teleconference for the media six times during the 2005-06 season. Each coach will be available for approximately 8 minutes. Media representatives wishing to participate in the teleconference should contact the BIG EAST office or consult the weekly press release for the phone number. The 16-team league is split into two groups of eight. The “first” group will have teleconferences on Dec. 1, Jan. 12, Jan. 26, Feb. 9 and Feb. 23.

Hillgrove was named the Pittsburgh Steelers' play-by-play announcer in 1994. Joining Hillgrove courtside for his 27th straight year is color analyst DICK GROAT. A Pittsburgh native, Groat is one of the city's most enduring sports legends, making his mark in two different sports. He was a four-time All-America basketball and baseball player at Duke, where he is one of only 11 Blue Devils to have his number retired. Groat was named the 1952
College Basketball Player of the Year after becoming the first and only player in NCAA history to lead the nation in both scoring and assists in the same season. Groat played one year for the Fort Wayne Pistons before concentrating solely on professional baseball. As a member of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Groat captured the National League batting championship as well as Most Valuable Player honors in 1960. That same year, the Pirates won the World Series over the Yankees in a dramatic seven games. He later went on to play for the St. Louis Cardinals, where he was a key figure on the 1964 World Series championship team.
