Dear Sanford POWER Strength & Conditioning Clinic Attendee, Thank you for attending the 14th annual Sanford POWER Strength & Conditioning Clinic in Sioux Falls. Our goal is to provide you the most current information, drills and demonstrations of ground based exercises that you can use in your programs, and to explain the scientific principles behind each. These drills are designed to improve the athletic performance of your athletes and clients, while helping to reduce their incidence of injury. New this year we will be partnering with our 9th annual Sanford Sports Medicine Symposium. Although each will have their own distinct educational tracks, we will strategically combine the Clinic and Symposium together on Saturday morning for an integrated opportunity to share professionally. We are very excited about this chance for Physicians, PT’s, ATC’s and Strength & Conditioning Coaches to all share in this learning environment. Our 2015 clinic features a number of nationally prominent presenters. This year’s keynote speaker is Vern Gambetta. He is the Director of the Gambetta Sports Training Institute, and considered by many to be the father of “Functional Sports Training”. Andrea Hudy, the Assistant AD for Sports Performance at the University of Kansas, will offer her insights into training the Men’s Basketball program. We also have Brad Arnett, owner of NX Level Sports Performance in Wisconsin. Coach Arnett works with athletes at all levels including NFL All-Pro’s JJ Watt and DeAndre Levy. Coach Nate Moe, Assistant AD for Strength & Conditioning at SDSU will demonstrate some fun and innovative ways to incorporate competitive team games into the weight room. And finally, SDSU sport nutritionist Mariah Weber will discuss maximizing athlete performance and recovery with some unique nutritional strategies. From our Sanford staff, we are fortunate to have Dr. Thayne Munce presenting the latest data on brain injury risk in football. Dr. Melissa Moyer, our lead POWER Physical Therapist and Biomechanist, will discuss the latest trends with running performance, and Dr. Brett Fischer will demonstrate mobility screens and exercise progressions for overhead athletes. We would like to thank Kevin Lampe and Colleen Carter for their administrative leadership in putting on this year’s clinic, along with Tryg Odney and Dr. Verle Valentine for all their assistance in coordinating the combined efforts with the Sports Medicine Symposium. A very special thank you to Alan Helgeson from Sanford Marketing for the support he has provided, along with Cal Hanson and the Sanford POWER staff for their assistance with preparation of today’s clinic. Also, thank you to our Gold and Silver Corporate Sponsors that have helped us keep this the most affordable and informative clinic in the region. Most importantly we would like to thank all of you, our attendees. You have helped make us the regional leader in sports performance education. It is your continued support that allows us to grow this clinic each year. Sanford is your resource for all Strength & Conditioning, Orthopedic and Rehabilitative needs.
