Best sown February/March, one seed per small pot, in a propagator or greenhouse at approx. 15°C (60°F) (Germination 10 to 14 days), eventually planting out in well prepared soil 90cm (36") between plants each way. Ensure plants are kept well watered the first year after planting. May also be sown direct outside March/April at a depth of 19mm (¾"), but germination is slow. Cut down to ground level during late autumn and protect crowns with straw or bracken. Use year after year. Sowing ➞ Cropping – 22-26 weeks.
