Hello and congratulations on your upcoming wedding! We are delighted that you are considering Brookwood for your event! Unlike most wedding venues, Brookwood’s purpose is to serve our community of adults with disabilities. As a non-profit, non-government funded organization, your wedding directly contributes to our community. Each wedding contributes to a scholarship fund for our citizens. Your beautiful day here is an opportunity for someone else to enjoy 365 days of theirs. Within our community, there is a beautiful Worship Center filled with stained glass windows, wood beam ceilings and seating for up to 350 guests. Our Garden Ballroom, a short 100 yards from the chapel, provides ample room for 300 guests to enjoy an evening of fun and dancing, while enjoying the view of our gorgeous gardens. Just outside of the bustling city of Houston, your guests will be able to enjoy the classic country feel of Brookshire without having to travel too far from modern luxuries. We are fortunate to have Katy Mills Mall a short distance down I-10, giving guests opportunities to shop and eat, find a hotel for the evening. Further down I-10 is the City Center area, perfect for those who enjoy nightlife and fun Houston activities. Listed rates are for Saturday evenings. Sunday – Friday evening events receive a $750 reduction in fee during peak season and $500 reduction in fee during off-season. If damage occurs to the Worship Center, Garden Ballroom or part of the Brookwood Community property during the event, the client is financially responsible and will be billed accordingly. Clients may pay with check made payable to Brookwood or a credit card. For a ceremony and reception at Brookwood:  A $1,500.00 Non-Refundable Non-transferable Save-the-Date deposit due at the time of booking. The deposit fee is applied to the total venue fee.  The Food & Beverage minimum for your event in the Garden Ballroom is $4,000 with all food, non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages being purchased through Brookwood. Further food pricing can be found in the Special Events Menu.  Fifty percent of estimated food and beverage payment is due 60 days prior to wedding.  Final guest counts and payments are due to the Brookwood business office two weeks prior to the wedding.  Each additional hour outside the five hours is an additional $800 per hour and is due two weeks before at time of final payment  A 20% service charge is applied to all food and beverage items  For all taxable food items, a 6.25% tax will be applied. All alcohol is subject to a 8.25% tax charge.  In appreciation of our active U.S. military Brides and Grooms there is a 5% discount applied to your service charge.

Frequently Asked Questions How many hours do I have at Brookwood? If you are having your ceremony and reception at Brookwood, we allow one hour for rehearsal the night before and five hours for the ceremony and reception the day of. We estimate thirty minutes for the ceremony, one hour for cocktails and three and a half hours for the reception. This timeline can be adjusted to fit your wedding day needs. An additional hour is $800 and payment is required two weeks before your wedding. What about set up time? Set up can begin around 2:45pm the day of the event, due to the café staying open until 2pm. Do not worry about having to pay extra for set up time, this is included with the venue fee. Vendors can begin arriving at 3:00pm for anything related to the Ballroom. Brookwood is not responsible for setting up any décor in the Worship Center, Welcome Center or Garden Ballroom. Chapel décor may be placed during rehearsal if there is not an event before yours. All décor must be removed the night of your event. What kind of lighting comes with the venue fee? Standard lighting is available in the Worship Center, Welcome Center, Garden Ballroom and outdoor garden areas. Indoor and outdoor lighting packages are available. Please speak with the coordinator for more information about the packages. What kind of vendor meals does Brookwood offer? Vendor meals are included in the price of the venue. Please let us know how many meals are needed two weeks in advance. There are children invited to our wedding, is there a menu option for them? For guest under the age of 12, we provide a kid friendly alternative at $13 per child that includes chicken strips and French fries and a drink. We do recommend a seating chart if you are including children, so we are able to get their meals to them in a timely manner. What kind of linen does Brookwood provide for the tables during the reception? We provide white napkins and café length linens on all tables. They cover the tops of the tables and hang down a quarter of the way to the floor. Does Brookwood have any rentals for décor? Yes, we have a list of add on items, including cake stands, chargers, plant packages, lighting packages and more. What does the wedding and event coordinator at Brookwood do? You are provided with a Wedding and Event Coordinator that will help answer any questions about the facility and act as the coordinator for the facility. You are more than welcome to bring in an outside day of coordinator to help run the event. Do you have a preferred vendors list? We have created a recommended “Best of the Best” list of vendors. We will suggest certain DJ’s, photographers and cake artists, but you are welcome to use anyone. All cakes must come from a licensed food handler. When will I have my tasting? Tastings will be scheduled 60-90 days before the wedding. A Brookwood Coordinator will contact you about available dates. Can I hang lights or drapery from the ceiling in the ballroom? Brookwood reserves the right to determine if items can hang from the ceiling or walls on a case by case basis. No nails, tacks, staples or anything that would puncture the wall or infrastructure is allowed. Do I need a police officer for this event? Brookwood requires 1 police officer for every 200 guests for all after hour events. The officer fee is $40 per hour and must be paid by cash or check the evening of the event. Does Brookwood cut the cake or do I need to find someone to cut it? Brookwood does not charge a cake cutting fee. Our chef cuts and plates one piece of cake per plate. (We do not put a piece from the grooms cake and bride’s cake on the same plate, unless asked to) Our servers take the cake out to your guests and make sure everyone has the opportunity to have some cake. We will box up any leftover cake, provided that bakery boxes have been brought from the cake baker. What time can my ceremony begin? Evening ceremonies can begin no earlier than 5pm and no later than 6pm.

Can family or friends take home leftover food? We do not box up any leftover food or beverages to be taken home. We do provide a small to-go meal for the bride and groom to snack on after they have left for the evening Am I allowed to use confetti for my grand exit? Unfortunately, we do not allow confetti, bird seed or rice to be used for a grand exit. Bubbles, glow sticks, sparklers and rally towels make great exit pieces. Does Brookwood require assigned seating for the reception? We highly recommend having assigned seating or assigned tables for the reception. This ensures all your guests will have a seat available to them, that families or couples are not split up. When is my final guest count due? Brookwood requires the final guest count two weeks prior to the wedding. What happens if more guests show up than what was on my final count? Once you have submitted your final guest count two weeks prior to the wedding, you may not decrease your guest count. The guest count may increase until the Tuesday before the wedding. If more guest attend than what was anticipated and paid for, payment for the overage will be due before the evening ends Can I bring in my own food? All food served to your guests must come from Brookwood, except cake and desserts from a licensed baker. Are we allowed to bring in our own alcohol? Due to our TABC license, no outside alcohol is allowed within the building or gardens. Any guests that bring in outside alcohol will be asked to remove it from the premises. Any further issues with outside alcohol will be addressed by the police officer on the premises.
