Subject: NEU College Recruiting Seminar - Sunday 2/18/18 at Star Hill Where: Star Hill Athletic Facility (Main Building, Second Floor, Group Exercise Room) When: Sunday February 18th Time: Starts at 5PM and will run about an hour and a half - depending on questions What: A successful approach to the college recruiting process Who Should Attend: Parents & players (sophomores, juniors) who want to play soccer at a college level – Parents of freshmen and even 8th graders are welcome as well NEU will once again be delivering its seminar on “Preparing for the College Recruiting Process”. The process can be confusing and navigating it with a teenager makes it down right complex. Success requires a solid understanding of what the critical milestones are, the best way to approach and navigate the process, and what tools and resources are available to assist. We will cover this and also present a logical plan that you can follow to achieve success. The target audiences for the seminar are the parents and players of sophomores and juniors that intend to play soccer at the next level. Parents of freshman and even 8th graders may attend as well, but history tells us that freshman players are generally too young and can become quite bored. Each year NEU hosts this seminar and it grows and evolves every year. Here's what it is all about: Objectives: 1. Leave with a proper perspective on the relationship between college academics, athletics and social life. 2. Learn a logical approach to the process that you can modify to fit your specific needs. 3. Identify some of the tools available to help you in the process. 4. Discuss the process, opinions and your questions from some who have done it - college players, coaches and some who went through the process. What You Walk Away With: • Understanding of the college recruiting process. • Knowing how to create your own personal approach to the process. • Knowledge on some of the tools that you need and others that can help. • Insight from an open discussion with coaches and parents who've done it. • How to access the NEU resources throughout the process. *Important Notes: • Ideally a parent attends with their player. It is important for both to hear the same story. It will help players decide what college soccer is all about and if they want to commit. It will help parents learn the process, what's involved and tips to make it easier. However, as previously stated we would encourage only the parents of 8th graders and freshmen to attend, but they are welcome if you are comfortable with it.
