When Hamish Fordwood met future wife Lindsey Vickers, he had no idea that he’d also be getting a dramatic makeover of the 1928 cottage that he’d purchased in 2004, south of Cherry Creek Shopping Center. “She told me, ‘I’m just going to paint,’” he recalls. But Vickers, designer and a certified Green Building Professional, wasn’t about to stop there. Kentwood Cherry Creek agent Rollie Jordan will give you a tour of enticingly remodeled 2895 E. Alameda Avenue today – even provide treats in the appealing kitchen and the surprisingly large backyard area, with a covered pavilion. expanded from the original footprint (now the large living room/dining room areas) to its present 4,343 square feet; and surrounding lots had been sold off for newer homes alongside. But the entry lane north from Alameda gives no idea of the size and openness of this home, particularly after Vickers’ redesign. She’s made the most of its cottage-like eves and gables with a white-on-white interior treatment, highlighted by blasts of color from artwork – carried from the broad entry area that shows a new, curved staircase; into a morning room with gas-ribbon fireplace; to a main-floor guest suite. The upstairs beneath the prominent eves is arrayed across a broad loft-bridge, connecting a second guest bedroom and a study (linked by a Jack-n-Jill) to the master, with designer bath, sitting area and wood burning fireplace. The home is priced at $1.599 million – a range that won’t even get you a newer duplex in the blocks north of Cherry Creek. “You couldn’t have anything this lovely in Cherry Creek North at this price,” Jordan says. The home is east of University on Alameda; take University south from the shopping center to Alameda and turn east 0.3 mile to Jordan’s Kentwood sign in the entry drive (park on Alameda).
