1​st​ and 2​nd Title: Birds eye view of the river ​This is a guided practice project with many creative choices, yet led by the instructor. Supplies and Space: ​The classroom. White drawing paper 12x18, 60 lbs, one per student, paint chips, brushes, black crayons. Objectives​: Students will: Create a painting​ using the birds eye view of a river. They will use line to make shape and learn about the art elements of line, shape and color. Session One: Drawing our River: Line =Shape: ​We will gather at the rug and talk about line and shape, and how line creates shape. We will talk about BIRDS EYE VIEW, and what it might look like. We will spend time brainstorming and drawing some examples. Students will then use line to create shape to draw the river and things around it, lead by the teaching artist. Make sure names are on these papers! Session Two: Painting. ​We will gather at the rug and learn about color mixing and the color wheel. Teacher will do a demo on using the paint chips and mixing colors. Students will paint their drawings using the primary colors to make the secondary colors. If time we will gather for a critique, ask “do you think you were successful at mixing colors?” Possible critic questions….​ Which part was the most challenging for you and how did you overcome that?
