Thank you parents for your support in us being able to achieve this by ensuring your child is at school before 8.45, for register and for their continued good attendance. We are now trying hard to win it again in the Summer Term, which will mean we get to visit the seaside for the day! We need your
A reminder that we also have swimming on a Wednesday. It is important that all children learn and develop this important life skill, so all children need to bring in swimming costumes and towels on this day. Finally, thank you for ensuring your child has their PE kit for the whole week,, as they need to change their footwear daily, for our DAILY MILE. Year 6 The Iguanas The children are working really hard in the run up to their SATs. Letters regarding the arrangements for SATs breakfast will be sent out shortly. We are so proud of the commitment and enthusiasm they have shown towards their work.
Reception The Busy Bees This week we are continuing our learning around ‘All that grows’ focusing on the story ‘The Enormous Turnip’. We have begin the week by familiarising ourselves with the story and using our sense to explore a turnip. Some children produced some fantastic observational drawings of a turnip yesterday afternoon. We also had a think about different words that we knew that meant ‘enormous’. During the week we will be producing a story map to help us remember key events in the story and help us to retell the story in our own words. We will then be drawing and sequencing pictures and rewriting the story. In number time this week we are focusing on size and weight;ordering and comparing objects. We will be investigating whether the biggest object is always the heaviest. Some fantastic news about the beans we planted a few weeks ago –we have been monitoring them and they have started to shoot. One of them is already looking like a beanstalk. We cant wait to see the vegetable seeds that we planted last week start to shoot up. In the afternoon now we have introduced ‘Miss Venters’ special challenges’; these activities that the children are encouraged to have a go at independently. Some of the children have really taken to these and some of the work that they are producing is amazing! Anything they think is super learning gets put in to Miss Venters’ special
challenge tray and we look through it at the end of the day.
Laura produced this fantastic picture from our story of the week and wants to do some writing to go with it this afternoon. Great work keep it up! Celebration cards will be written out for super learning seen!! Who will go home with one tonight! Year 1 The Bears This week we are continuing our learning of ‘The Enormous Turnip’. We are thinking how the turnip might feel being pulled out of the ground and writing speech bubbles from its point of view. To continue with our Science topic ‘Let it Grow’ and as Spring tries to make an appearance again later this week, children will be going outside to observe the trees, plants and flowers and see how they are growing. They will be able to take photographs and sketch pictures before writing sentences about their observations. In Maths we are moving onto capacity in our ‘Measures’ unit. We are using key vocabulary such as ‘empty’, ‘full’, ‘half full’, ‘nearly empty’ and ‘nearly full’. We are all trying really hard to complete our mile run every day.
