DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

PRIMARY SCRIPTURE “ For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come. 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:6-8

1. What is the significance of Paul likening himself to a “drink offering”. 2. How can Paul say he has “fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith” without it being a statement of arrogance? 3. What is “the crown of righteousness”? Why is it significant that Jesus as judge will award it to Paul when he dies? 4. How should a Christian think of death? Do you think that way?

MESSAGE SUMMARY Paul, in all honesty without conceit, was able to look back over his Christian life without shame. He was not worried about stepping into the presence of God upon death. He was confident that the life he lived was pleasing to God. He finished. It is the goal of all Christian to echo this life well lived for His Savior.
