Zones The phenomenon of vortex is only associated with landing aircraft. The three zones illustrated on this map take account of the usual landing pattern at Manchester Airport. During the more common Westerly winds (80% avg) aircraft will land from the North East on to the original runway.

During periods of Easterly winds aircraft will land over Cheshire. Their approach path will depend on which runway is in use
