Frankenmuth Football FRANKENMUTH 28 - SWAN VALLEY 14: Frankenmuth traveled to Arthur Hill Memorial Stadium in Saginaw to play in the annual Red Feather Game against Swan Valley and came home with a 28-14 victory. The Eagles jumped out to a 21-0 halftime lead with a 1st quarter 10-yard run by Kendall Judson and second quarter scores on a Michael Golden 53-yard TD reception on a hook & ladder play, and a 20-yard fumble return by Seth Stuart. Swan Valley scored two 2nd half touchdowns on a 37-yard pass play and 13-yard run. Joe Weiss completed Frankenmuth's scoring with a 10-yard run in the third quarter. Weiss also was 4-for-4 on PAT's. Judson carried 12 times for 105 yards and finished 8 of 12 passing for 125 yards. Nathan Bruff led the defense with 17 tackles and a fumble recovery. ESSEXVILLE-GARBER 34 - FRANKENMUTH 14: The Eagles traveled to Essexville to open Tri-Valley League play and came up on the short end of a 35-14 loss to the Dukes. The game was tied 7-7 at halftime. Garber opened the scoring with a 2nd quarter 2-yard run, but Kendall Judson capped a 10-play, 73-yard drive with a 4-yard jaunt. In the third quarter, Garber scored 21 unanswered points to take a 28-7 lead. Frankenmuth's Michael Golden got loose on a 37-yard run to pull the Eagles within a 28-14 score, but the Dukes added a 4th quarter score for the final score. The Eagles lost five fumbles in the game to doom the offense. Judson finished 12 for 18 passing for 113 yards, as Seth Stuart and Joe Weiss each caught four passes. Defensively, Nathan Bruff amassed 17 tackles. Kevin Rogner picked up 11 tackles. BIRCH RUN 12 - FRANKENMUTH 6: The Eagles hosted neighboring rival Birch Run and fell by a 12-6 score. Birch Run took the opening drive and scored in 7-plays on a 15-yard run. From that point on, the Eagles defense only allowed the Panthers to cross mid field on more time, holding Birch Run to 111 yards of total offense. With 12 seconds left in the third quarter, Birch Run scored on a 30-yard interception return to take a 12-0 lead. Frankenmuth's lone score took place at the 9:51 mark in the fourth quarter on a Michael Golden 21-yard run. Defensively, Kevin Rogner collected 10 tackles while Kyle Koch and Tark Newman recovered fumbles. CARO 19 - FRANKENMUTH 18: Frankenmuth traveled to Caro and suffered their third consecutive Tri-Valley Conference loss, 19-18. Frankenmuth took the opening kickoff and the lead when Seth Stuart rambled 90 yards for the score. After the Eagles fumbled on Caro's 1-yard line, Caro drove 99 yards to take a 7-6 lead. In the third quarter, Joe Weiss capped a 12-play, 80 yard drive with a 1-yard plunge, leaving the score 12-7. In the fourth quarter, Caro scored at the 7:52 mark on a 1-yard run to take a 13-12 lead. With 4:39 remaining in the game, Frankenmuth recaptured the lead when Kyle Koch threw the ball in the flat to receiver Eric Ball who tossed it to Brian Bekemeier for a 43-yard TD. The key 2-point try failed and the Eagles lead 18-13. With 1:04 remaining, Caro scored on a 6-yard run to provide the slim 19-18 win. Casey Bierlein led the Muth rushing attack with 101 yards, with Weiss picking 86 yards. Stuart led the Eagles with 13 tackles. FRANKENMUTH 35 - MILLINGTON 14: On Frankenmuth's Homecoming, the Eagles defeated previously unbeaten Millington 35-14. Frankenmuth scored 21 first quarter points on Eric Ball's 8-yard run, Joe Weiss's 64-yard fumble return, and a 65-yard TD pass from Ball to Seth Stuart. The Cardinals scored in the second quarter on a 5-yard run to make the score 21-7 at the half. In the third quarter, Michael Golden ran 97-yards for a TD and Weiss added the PAT. Millington answered to score on a 1-yard run, as the Eagles led 28-14. With 3:58 to play, Weiss burst through with a 30-yard score for the final 3514 score. Golden finished with 135 yard rushing on 16 attempts. Ball was 4 of 5 passing for 141 yards. Nathan Bruff collected 10 tackles and Casey Bierlein added nine tackles and an interception. FRANKENMUTH 41 - VASSAR 28: Frankenmuth traveled to Vassar for a Tri-Valley East battle and collected a 41-28 triumph. Vassar scored first on a 5yard pass play, but the Eagles Eric Ball knotted the score at 7-7 on a 69-yard run. The Vulcan's moved ahead later in the opening quarter on a 77-yard TD run. On the first play of the second quarter, Ball again scored on a 1-yard run. Michael Golden scored on a 69-yard TD pass from Kendall Judson, only to have Vassar tie the score before half on a 6-yard pass play. Vassar struck first in the third quarter on a 13-yard run, but 20 seconds later, Ball connected with Seth Stuart on a 67-yard scoring catch. For a 28-28 tie score after three quarters. Michael Golden added two 4th quarter scores on runs of 66 & 65 yards to seal the Eagle victory. Joe Weiss added five extra points. Golden finished with 142 yards rushing on eight carries. Ball was 5 for 9 passing for 134 yards, with Stuart grabbing two receptions for 100 yards. Frankenmuth had 498 yards of offense, with 295 of the yards coming on the ground. Defensively, three Eagles racked up double-digit tackles led by Nathan Bruff's 18 tackles. Jacob Bernthal added 15 tackles while Weiss posted 12 tackles. FRANKENMUTH 26 - BRIDGEPORT 6: The Eagles hosted neighboring Bridgeport and came away with a 26-6 victory. After a scoreless 1st quarter, Bridgeport scored at the 4:33 mark of the 2nd quarter on an 8-yard touchdown run and with the failed PAT, the Bearcats led 6-0. Frankenmuth took a 7-6 halftime lead on Seth Stuart's 46-yard punt return and Joe Weiss' PAT. On the first play from scrimmage in the 2nd half, Michael Golden dashed 57-yards, giving the Eagles a 13-6 lead. Golden added a 51-yard TD run and Kendall Judson scored from 4-yards to end the scoring. Golden finished with 166 yards rushing on 16 carries. Defensively, Nathan Bruff had 12 tackles. FRANKENMUTH 27 - NORTH BRANCH 14: 'Muth' rattled off its fourth straight win on a rainy and windy night with a 27-14 score over North Branch. On the opening drive of the game by North Branch, Jacob Bernthal recovered a Bronco's fumble and two plays later, Michael Golden scored on a 10-yard run. With 39 seconds left in the opening quarter, Eric Ball connected with Joe Weiss on a 26-yard TD pass and Weiss tacked on the PAT for a 14-0 Eagle lead. North Branch scored on a 15-yard run and a 2-point conversion to cut the halftime score to 14-8. Weiss and Golden added 2nd half scored on runs of 6 & 48 yards respectively. Golden had 134 yards rushing. Nathan Bruff led the defense with 10 tackles. FRANKENMUTH 48 - LAKERS 0: The Eagles ended the regular season with a 48-0 whitewash against Laker High. Frankenmuth scored three touchdowns in the first quarter on Michael Golden's 36-yard run, Joe Weiss' 38-yard run and an Eric Ball to Seth Stuart 37-yard TD pass. Frankenmuth added two second quarter scores on a Weiss 33-yard run and a Golden 73-yard scamper. Casey Bierlein got into the scoring with a 60-yard run and Chris Smith had the final score with a 1-yard run. Lakers attempted a late 4th quarter drive, but Jacob Schreiner picked off a Laker pass to preserve the shutout. Golden finished with 173 yards rushing on 10 carries and Weiss also had 10 carries for 115 yards. As a team, the Eagles had 429 yards rushing and limiting the Lakers to 133 yards rushing. MILLINGTON 35 - FRANKENMUTH 0: In a district playoff opener, the Eagles traveled to Millington on a gusty, windy day and fell to the Cardinals 35-0. Millington jumped out to a 28-0 halftime lead, scoring on touchdown runs twice in each of the first two quarters. Millington added a 4th quarter score, as they finished with 308 total offense. Casey Bierlein led the Eagles with 50 yards rushing. Defensively, Nathan Bruff had 23 tackles, followed by Kendall Judson and Brian Bekemeier with 9 tackles each.
