2009 Miners’ Soccer Academy
Assistant Coach Stephanie Morales joined the UTEP Soccer program in October 2008. Coach Morales, a former UTEP player, was the head coach for the Chapin Girls’ Soccer team for two seasons where she led the team to a district 1-4A championship and bi-district championship.

Franklin Girls’ Soccer Coach Scott Gilmore has led his high school team to numerous district championships and several appearances in the state play-offs. Franklin girls’ soccer has consistently been ranked as the top team in El Paso.
SOCCER AND SWIM CAMP:
San Elizario Girls’ Head Coach John Romero spent several years as the head coach for girls’ soccer at Andress High School where he lead the 1996 team to an appearance in the “Sweet 16” of the state play-offs. He also heads up the eastside club team the Pink Panthers.

Come and enjoy summer fun playing soccer and cooling off in UTEP’s amazing pool located in the Swimming and Fitness Center below University Field. This camp will focus on the basic techniques and fundamentals of the game, designed for all levels of players! The pool will be monitored by several lifeguards as well as all the UTEP camp coaches.
Del Valle Girls’ Soccer Coach Gibby Widner has led his team to numerous district championships and appearances in the state play-offs. Gibby is also an accomplished referee who has called games at the collegiate and professional levels.

MORNING CAMP:
Campers will develop a strong technical soccer base. Some of the technical topics taught are ball control, dribbling, heading, passing, shooting, and defending. You will receive the best instruction available, and have fun playing the game you love.

Burges Boys’ Soccer Coach David Rascon is an avid supporter of UTEP soccer, and a familiar face at the UTEP Soccer Camps, helping out every summer.
Former El Paso Patriot player Carlos Martinez is the current graduate assistant for UTEP Soccer. Coach Oscar Mendoza heads the local girls’ club team Storm and is also a coach for the New Mexico Olympic Development Program.

Bruce Reichman and Ozzy Vazquez, head coach and assistant coach for the Del Valle Boys’ Soccer team, lead their team to another Class 4A State Championship in the 07-08 soccer season. This was the second state title in the last four years for the program.
Former El Paso Patriot player Luis Rincon not only played for the El Paso Patriots, but went on to become their trainer. Luis was also a graduate assistant for the UTEP Soccer Program and is now the Westside Recreation Center Director.
ADVANCED CAMP:
Boys and Girls Ages 7 to 18
Chapin Girls’ Soccer Coach Amber Mack spent four seasons as a UTEP miner and also coaches the local club team Angels F.C.
Coronado Girls’ Soccer Coach Andrea Esparza is at her alma mater Coronado High School who have won district titles and made appearances in the state play-offs. Andrea is also a former soccer player for UTEP where she was part of the first women’s soccer team for the university and scored the first goal in the programs history.
