TOURNAMENT PREVIEW: With a fourth place finish at the NCAA Atlantic/East Regional, the Post University golf team advanced to the first NCAA Championship in program history. It also became the first program in school history to compete for an NCAA National Title. The top five finishers in each of the four regionals will face-off in a 54-hole tournament. The top eight teams after 54-holes will be seeded into a bracket and face-off against one other team. Each team match will consist of five points with one point being awarded for each individual match. Winning teams will advance to the semifinals and subsequently the finals. The first team to win three points takes the match and advances. SEASON RECAP: The Eagles had a strong fall season, finishing in second place in three of their five tournaments. Junior Thomas Rees had the lowest scoring average of 75.5 per round during the early season. Post opened up with a second place finish at the St. Rose fall shootout with a second place finish out of 11 participants. The Eagles carded a 611, five shots behind winner Bentley. Rees led the Eagles with a 149 (77-72) good for a fifth place finish.

The Eagles traveled to the Rutgers Invitational next to face some Division I programs. Post finished in sixth place, ahead of five Division I schools at 903. Ross Earnshaw led the charge with a 224 (77-72-75), finishing in 21st. Post hosted the Northeast Intercollegiate and finished second behind CACC rival Wilmington. Rees finished fourth at 150 (73-77). The Eagles grabbed another second place finish at the Dowling Fall Invitational. They finished the spring with a 13th place finish in the Nova Southern Shark Invitational. After placing fourth at the Irish Creek Intercollegiate, the Eagles finished second, one stroke behind host Dowling, at the Southern Swing Invitational. Marchant de Villiers, Villiers Rees, and Earnshaw all tied for third place at 77. Rees carded the first under par round of the Eagles season with a two-under 70 in round one of the Barton Intercollegiate. Post finished in ninth at the tournament with a score of 612. Sophomore Anthony Netto finished in third place at the Carolina Sands Intercollegiate after shooting the lowest two rounds of the Eagles

season a six-under 138 (70-68). Post finished in seventh with a 588 (290298), which was its lowest team score of the season. The Eagles finished second at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship, 12 strokes behind champion Wilmington. Rees was named to the All-Tournament Team after shooting a 153 (76-77), good for fourth place. Two other Eagles placed in the top-10 as Earnshaw, 155 (79-76), and Netto, 156 (79-77), placed seventh and ninth, respectively. The Eagles finished the NCAA Atlantic/East Regional with a score of 942 (316-312-314). Rees was the Eagles top finisher, placing 12th with a 231 (76-75-80) POST IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT: Post has been selected to the NCAA Regional in each of the last eight seasons, but is making it first appearance in the championship. The Eagles have finished in the top-10 three times, most recently in 2011. Last season, Post finished in eighth place with a score of 911 (292-314305). THREE EAGLES NAMED ALL-CACC: Anthony Netto was named CACC Rookie of the Year at the CACC Golf Banquet on April 9. Ross Earnshaw and junior Thomas Rees were also named to the All-CACC Team. Netto, was named CACC Rookie of the Week on April 3. He became the second Post golfer in as many years to be named CACC Rookie of the Year as Earnshaw held the honor in 2011. Earnshaw was named to the All-CACC Team for the second consecutive season. He has the second lowest scoring average on the Eagles at 75.90. Rees made his second straight appearance on the All-CACC Team. He was also named to the CAACC AllTournament team. He leads the Eagles with five top-10 finishes. Rees has the lowest scoring average on the team at

75.76. POST FRESHMAN CLASS IMPACT: Golfstat.com has ranked the freshman class impact of the Eagles as 17th in NCAA Division II out of over 200 schools nationwide. The scores for Sebastian Noesgaard and Anthony McNamara were included in the rankings. The two combined to play in 25 rounds this season and post a scoring average of 78.92, which was adjusted to 77.04 for the purpose of the rankings. The Eagles had a relative strength score of 199.247 to place them in 17th overall. Freshman class impact is calculated by taking the adjusted scoring averages of the freshman that have played in the most rounds are compared between all teams throughout the country. That is then factored into each team's adjusted average to come up with a relative strength score out of 1000. SCOUTING THE FIELD: The Eagles will face some tough competition if they want to bring home the first NCAA Championship in school history as 13 of the top 25 teams in the country make the trip to Simpsonville. The No. 1 team in the county, Barry, is making its fourth straight championship appearance. The Buccaneers won the National Championship in 2007 and finished second in the South/Southeast Regional. No. 2 Nova Southeastern shot an 11under 277 in the final round of the South/Southeast Regional to come from 15 strokes down to advance. No. 3 California State-Stanislaus is making its 19th championship appearance out of the last 23 years after winning the Central/West Regional. South Carolina-Aiken won three straight NCAA Championships from 2004-2006 and is making its 13 appearance in the championship round.
