Big Shark’s Vann Knight Tuesday Night World Championship 2014 Criterium Training Series March 11th - August 26th The Skinny - For the 2014 race season local cyclists can try their hand at criterium racing. th The "A "and" B" races will commence on Tuesday, March 11 at 6:00 and 7:00 pm respectively and continue every Tuesday th Night through August 27 . th th The "Introduction to Bicycle Racing" aka "C" races will start on March 11 and March 18 with a Criterium Skills clinic from th th 5:30pm until 6:00pm. Beginning on March 25 though April 29 the “C” race will be held between 5:30pm and 6:00pm. th Beginning on May 6 , the “C” Race will begin at 7:35pm. Races are subject to modification or cancellation due to poor visibility, inclement weather, or conflicts which may impact course availability.
The Course -The course is an open .7 mile loop with one sharp turn and a bit of elevation gain. Pavement quality is near perfect and corners are very safe. The course is protected from the wind and has newer pavement on about 80% of the road. It is a great venue to improve fitness and racing skill. (Note - In exchange for usage of the course, St. Louis City requests that local racers respect the Park and the adjacent neighborhoods.)
Parking-The parking lot and facilities will be available as close to 5:00 pm as possible. Please do NOT block the traffic lane around Horse Shoe Lake. Registration will take place on site and open at approximately 5:00 pm each Tuesday. Registration closes 30 minutes prior to the start of each race. Important! All racers must have a current license (one day and annuals are available for purchase on site). Riders may not race without paying, without reporting to registration, or without filling out and signing an entry release form. Each rider must check in/register and have signed the Series Entry/Release waiver. Unregistered riders, unlicensed riders or deadbeat riders who race without paying will be subject to disciplinary action.

Racing Clinics: Big Shark will be offering two “Intro to Bicycle Racing” classes, Sunday, Jan. 26th and Sunday, Feb.9th. We will cover information that will be very useful to anyone considering participating in racing for the first time. Held at the Big Shark LOOP Location. Cost $20 We will have two "C" Race Training Nights” @ Carondelet Park- April 1st and 15th. From 7:00pm to 8:00pm. Targeted participants for the clinic are those with some race experience, who have a desire to improve skill, tactics and work on individual/team skills in a practice race. Clinic Cost: $10. [email protected] This clinic will be off of the bike- and we will walk the entire course while the race is in progress. Primes: The "A" race will have one $10.00 prime. The "B" race will have one $10.00 prime, and one $10.00 women's prime. The "C" race will get nothing and like it. * The "C Women's" race will have a $10.00 prime. Details: Categories may be combined for the C race depending on field size and discretion of the Chief Referee. All riders must have a USAC license, one day licenses will be available. Every racer will have an initial race fee of $20.00. Thereafter entry will be $12.00. If you want to do two races on the same day the first race will be $12.00, the second race will be $3.00. ($15.00 total).Fee includes a $3 rider insurance surcharge. This fee structure applies to the first two “C” race clinics on March 11th and 18th. Directions: Take 44 East to I-55 South.
