OAKLAND DIOCESE FINGERPRINTING REQUIREMENT The Diocese of Oakland requires that all volunteers who have regular contact with children be fingerprinted. Fingerprinting of volunteers is being phased in by groups of coaches. During the 2011 – 2012 seasons, the following CYO volunteers will be fingerprinted: • CYO Athletic Directors – New Athletic Directors (and those not previously fingerprinted) • CYO Basketball: All Coaches who are coaching Third Grade (and younger) Basketball Teams. All New Coaches who are Coaching Fourth and Fifth Grade Basketball Teams (and those not previously fingerprinted) • CYO Volleyball: All Coaches who are coaching Fourth Grade (and younger) Volleyball Teams. All New Coaches who are Coaching Fifth Grade Volleyball Teams (and those not previously fingerprinted) Volunteers may be fingerprinted and complete the fingerprinting requirement by: • Being Fingerprinted at one of the opportunities listed above; • Making an appointment and be fingerprinted at the Diocesan Safe Environment Office at the Chancery Office in Oakland. Call Carmen Alvarez – 510-267-8343; • Making an appointment and be fingerprinted at Fingerprint Services of America, 225 West Winton Ave., Suite 124, Hayward. Call Dr. Marshall Mitzman – 510-293-9140; • Be fingerprinted by an outside agency. Contact the Diocesan Safe Environment Office for appropriate forms prior to fingerprinting. Call Carmen Alvarez – 510-267-8343. The cost for fingerprinting is $34. per volunteer. Parish/school CYO programs will be billed. Fingerprinting by an outside agency may require additional fees. Those previously successfully fingerprinted for the Diocese of Oakland are not required to be fingerprinted again.
