Pitcher Roy Metter Nebraska-Kearney Senior, RH Pitcher, 6-3 Phoenix, Ariz./ Scottsdale College Metter did not allow an earned run in 10.0 innings last week. On Wednesday against regionally-ranked Nebraska-Omaha, he threw three innings of scoreless relief. Metter had four strikeouts, no walks and allowed just one hit. On Saturday, he threw a complete game eight-hitter to beat NMHU. He now leads the team in wins (seven) and complete games (five) on the year.

Player Zach Krueger Metro State Senior, Center Field, 6-2 Holyoke HS/Lamar CC Krueger had four multihit games for the Roadrunners as they swept Colorado Mines to move into first place in the Mountain Division. He batted .588 and slugged 1.059, while adding eight runs batted in, six runs scored and three extra-base hits, including a pair of home runs. He also stole three bases in three attempts. Krueger opened the series with a 3-for-4 performance on Friday, with a triple and scoring two runs, while driving in another. He went 3-for-5 with four RBIs and a home run in Saturday’s first game. He was 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs scored and a home run in game two. Krueger wrapped up the weekend with two hits. He singled and scored a run in the middle of Metro State’s nine-run ninth inning as the Roadrunners rallied from an 8-2 deficit in the ninth and won on Sean Reeves’ three-run, walk-off home run.

2011 RMAC Baseball Release Colorado Christian University (8-37, 4-31 RMAC) Team Notes: The Cougars won their fourth league game of the season with a 7-6 win Saturday against Regis. They will conclude their season with a four game series this weekend at New Mexico Highlands. They will also finish their game from March 19 that was postponed due to darkness at the end of the seventh inning with the score tied at seven.

Colorado School of Mines (15-29, 12-22 RMAC) Pitcher: Mike Fuller (Junior, Right Handed Pitcher, 6-3, Parker, Colo./Chaparral HS) Fuller struck out seven and allowed just two earned runs in CSM’s series finale at Metro State on May 1. Fuller, who did not figure into the decision, leads the squad in strikeouts (50), victories (tied – three), shutouts (tied – one) and innings pitched (57.1). He is also second amongst the CSM starting pitchers with a 7.06 ERA. Player: Jordan Williams (Sophomore, Catcher, 5-9, Hayden, Colo./Hayden HS) Williams drove in 10 runs and crossed the plate six times in 18 at bats last week. Williams, who hit a grand slam in CSM’s series finale at Metro State on May 1, also clubbed three doubles, amassed a .611 slugging percentage, registered a .963 fielding percentage (27 total chances) and threw out three of six would-be base stealers in five games. Williams, who is hitting .306 this season (134 at bats), leads CSM in doubles (13), sacrifice flies (three) and RBI (36). He has now thrown out 43.2 percent (19-of-44) of would-be base stealers this season. Team Notes: Jarred Wallace went 8-for-17 (.471) with five RBI in five games played last week. He is hitting .336 (47-for-140) on the season with 26 RBI and a .980 fielding percentage (102 total chances). Kyle Wallace hit .429 (6-for-14) with five runs scored and a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage (18 total chances) last week. Kyle Wallace, who has started all 44 games, is hitting .325 (49-for-151) with 29 RBI and leads CSM in runs scored (tied – 37). Elliott Riege went 7-for-17 (.412) with five runs scored for Mines last week. He is hitting .404 this year and leads CSM in hits (65), runs scored (tied – 37), home runs (four). Riege, who has nine doubles, is second on the team in RBI (tied – 32) and walks (21). Tyler Phan Thornton (.302 in 172 at bats) went 8-for-20 (.400) with six runs scored last week and is now riding a six-game hitting streak. Thornton, who has started all 44 games, is second on the team in stolen bases (11) and third on the squad in runs scored (34). Charlie Basil, who went 7-for-21 (.333) last week, is hitting .326 on the season (46-for-141) with 29 RBI. Matthew Pullos, who hit .316 (6-for-19) last week, is hitting .389 on the season (157 at bats) with 32 runs scored and 11 doubles. He leads CSM in multiple-hit games (22) is second on the club in both RBI (tied – 32) and outfield assists (four). Nick Wong hit .313 (5-for-16) and recorded his team-leading fifth outfield assist last week. He (20 RBI) leads CSM in stolen bases with 14 and has yet to be thrown out this season. Brent Payne is hitting .308 (91 at bats) this season. Matt Brown, who is tied for the team lead in individual victories (three), leads all CSM starters with a 7.04 ERA. In 46.0 combined IP this season (10 appearances – seven starts), he has a teamthird-best 44 strikeouts. Blake Dunham (11 appearances – all starts) leads CSM in victories (tied – three). He is also second on the CSM pitching staff in strikeouts with 46. Matt Poulin has seven hits and five runs scored in 13 at bats this season. Bryan Coday has six hits in 16 at bats (.375) this season. The Orediggers are scheduled to conclude the regular-season portion of their schedule with a four-game RMAC series at Mesa State on May 6-7 at Suplizio Field in Grand Junction.

Colorado State University - Pueblo (24-22, 19-17 RMAC) Pitcher: Cole Stephens (Senior, Right Handed Pitcher, 6-4, Amarillo, Texas/Texas Tech) Stephens pitched eight innings in front of over 2,500 fans during CSU-Pueblo’s annual “Pack the Park” event at Pueblo’s Runyon Field, leading the ThunderWolves to a 9-4 win. The win halted a two-game losing streak for the ThunderWolves number-one starter. Team Notes: CSU-Pueblo will close out the regular season by hosting a four game series against Metro State.

Mesa State College (27-17, 24-12 RMAC) Pitcher: Cody Lahman (R-Freshman, Right Handed Pitcher, 5-11, Longmont, Colo./Niwot) Lahman recorded a 1-0 record this past week earning a the win in the Mavericks’ 10-3 win over Dixie State. He appeared in 6.1 innings of work over two appearances, allowing five hits and one run. Lahman struck out five batters and walked two, recording a 1.42 earned run average. Player: Dustin Fackrell (Junior, First Base, 6-7, Taylorsville, Utah/College of Eastern Utah/Kearns HS) In six games this past week Fackrell hit for a .381 average (8-for-21). He drove in seven runs and crossed the plate four times. Fackrell hit one double and struck out twice. He was perfect on the bases swiping one bag in his only attempt. Defensively, he recorded 30 putouts and four assists from his corner position.

2011 RMAC Baseball Release Metropolitan State College of Denver (28-12, 24-11 RMAC) Pitcher: Nate Van Bibber (Senior, Right Handed Pitcher, 6-3, Littletown, Colo./Douglas County HS/Garden City CC) Van Bibber tossed his first career complete game shutout on Saturday against Colorado Mines. It was just his third start of the season as he was filling in for injured Jake Draeger. Van Bibber scattered eight hits and struck out three in the game. He did not allow an extra-base hit. Player: Zach Krueger (Senior, Center Field, 6-2, Holyoke HS/Lamar CC) RMAC/Rawlings Player of the Week

New Mexico Highlands University (20-24, 14-21 RMAC) Pitcher: Edgar Vela (Junior, Left Handed Pitcher, 6-1, El Paso, Texas) Vela earned the 7-1 victory for the Cowboys against Nebraska-Kearney this past Sunday. He started the game and gave up one run on five hits in his 6.2 innings of work. He walked four and fanned three in the win. Team Notes: The Cowboys are now 20-24 overall and 14-21 in the RMAC.

Regis University (20-23, 18-17 RMAC) Pitcher: Mike McElreath (Junior, Right-Handed Pitcher, 6-3, Aurora, Colo./Smoky Hills HS) McElreath pitched a complete game (7.0 innings) six hitter in the series finale against Colorado Christian this past Saturday. He allowed 3 runs, only one of which was earned. McElreath walked and struck-out two Cougars, improving his season record to 3-4. Player: John Tosches (Freshman, Outfield, 6-1, Colorado Springs, Colo./Air Academy HS) Tosches hit for a .625 avaerage in the Rangers busy five games in three days schedule last week. He recorded 10 hits and drove in eight RBI helping Regis go 3-2 on the week. Four of his eight hits were for extra bases (three doubles, one triple). Tosches scored twice and also struck-out three times.

University of Nebraska at Kearney (30-13, 25-9 RMAC) Pitcher: Roy Metter (Senior, Right Handed Pitcher, 6-3, Phoenix, Ariz/Scottsdale College) RMAC/Rawlings Pitcher of the Week Player: Felix Segovia (Senior, Catcher/Designated Hitter, 5-7, Las Vegas, Nev./Salt Lake City CC) Segovia went 8-for-19 (.421) with five RBI in five games last week. He had three multi-hit games including four doubles in Saturday’s double header sweep of New Mexico Highlands. On the year, he is second on the Lopers in batting average (.396). Team Notes: Last Wednesday’s game against UNO was played at the new home of the Triple A Omaha Storm Chasers, Werner Park. A crowd of over 2,000 watched the first collegiate game played at this stadium, which opened in early April. Senior Andrew Haake hit his 30th career homer over the weekend, making him just the seventh Loper to reach that figure. UNK is now 17-6 on the road and 12-6 at home.
