Thanks for your consideration of becoming part of the Kansas City Wide Open. Obviously, money pays the bills, but there are many services and products that we would like to exchange for sponsorship. examples of such services and products include printing, trophies, banners, prizes, coupons, soft drinks and water, energy drinks, fruit, and or other food to feed the players. In addition we need disc golf related prizes for amateur prizes for inclusion in the player packages. Your cost for service or product sponsorship is the listed amount doubled. These services and products may be valued at your retail price. If none of these options fit your needs, we’re happy and willing to work with you to find a mutually beneficial level of sponsorship. While we are primarily seeking sponsorship for this years event, we are very interested in finding partners who might be interested in staying with us through the big celebration in 2012 and beyond. The KCFDC, now nearly 400 members strong, works in cooperation with the areas Parks and Recreation Departments in maintaining and improving the 13 public courses in the metro region. Most club activities involve taking care of courses, running leagues and smaller local and regional events, and working with communities to get new courses installed. The KCFDC helps local parks departments because besides being a great sport, disc golf is an excellent low-cost, healthful, and fun recreation for people of all ages. We are seeking sponsorship support from both the Kansas City area and the disc golf business communities. It’s our goal to make each player’s trip to Kansas City as memorable as possible and to present the Wide Open as professionally as possible. While we’re seeking cash sponsorship, there are a number of products or services that we’d be pleased to receive in lieu of cash.

Perhaps you’ve heard of disc golf: challenging, low-cost, good cardiovascular, and healthy game that combines elements from two popular pastimes. . .golf and Frisbee throwing. Similar to golf in pace, procedure, and psychology, disc golfers count their throws when playing courses that are usually 18 holes. Whereas in golf the hole is completed when the ball falls into the cup, in disc golf the hole is done when the disc is put into the basket of the target. A disc golf target features a two-foot wide metal basket that is attached to a pole, sitting two feet above the ground. There is also a chain assembly attached to the pole above the basket that stops the discs forward motion, causing it to drop into the basket. The sport of disc golf is governed by the Professional Disc Golf Association (pdga.com), which now boasts close to 50,000 worldwide members, most of whom are amateurs. The PDGA sanctions over 1,400 events a year, provides its members with a magazine called DiscGolfer and a competitive player rating, and operates the International Disc Golf Center near Augusta, Georgia. Since 1983, when the first-ever Kansas City Wide Open became a charter member of the PDGA Tour, Kansas City has evolved into one of the most popular disc golf destinations in the country. Besides the Wide Open, there have been Amateur World Championships in KC in 1999 and 2003, and the 2009 PDGA Professional and Amateur Disc Golf World Championships drew 921 players from 44 states and 12 countries, making it the largest disc golf tournament ever in the 35-year history of the PDGA. The Kansas City Flying Disc Club, a registered not-for-profit corporation, was established in 1988 with these goals: to promote the sport of disc golf, as well as other flying disc sports by (1) holding events and leagues for players of all skill levels; (2) issuing a newsletter to connect the membership, as well as other similar flying disc organizations, the media, and parks departments; (3) working in cooperation with the various park departments to maintain and improve the current courses, and to procure new courses. We encourage you join the KCFDC and become part of the growth of disc golf in Kansas City. The game, while relatively new, needs a strong club to connect effectively with the various governments on which our courses are located. We are one of the strongest clubs in the country, and we get things done.

A tee sign will be placed at the course of your choice where it will be the seen by the course competitors, as well as spectators. The 2009 PDGA Worlds marked the first time that a brother and sister won world titles. The event in 2009 is currently the largest ever disc golf event in the history of the sport.

You will receive 1 banner, and 2 tee signs which will be prominently displayed on the final day. For an additional $250 you will receive a full page ad in the program. —Tee Shirt Sponsor $400: Limited to four sponsors. Your logo will be included on the performance shirts that will go to every amateur player, and possibly, every pro as well. —Banner Sponsor $400: A 3’ x 6’ banner display featuring your name and/or logo and a 1/2 page ad in the Tournament Program.
