2012 Diocesan Nominees Diocesan Council
Elect (3) Lay-at-Large Ms. Judy Carpenter St. Paul’s, Rochester I have had the privilege of serving on Diocesan Council for the past two years. During that time I have been able to join with the whole council as the business of Council was discussed, served on subcommittees and represented Council on the responsible Investment Committee. It has been a fulfilling experience and I welcome an opportunity to serve a second term as a more seasoned representative. Mr. Robert Crystal Church of the Ascension, Rochester I am a long-time active member of the Diocese, serving for many years on the Oasis Committee, Public Policy Committee and Commission on Ministry. I represent the Diocese on the Board of Greater Rochester Community of Churches and have served previously on the Diocesan Council. I am active in my own parish, serving as lector and acolyte and sub deacon, and I am serving on the vestry.
Mr. Scott Seabridge Church of the Incarnation, Penfield As Warden and vestry member for the past 7 years at Incarnation, I am aware of how diocesan policies and decisions affect the parishes. I have 2 children who benefit greatly from Incarnation's thriving church school program. I currently serve (21 years) on another not-for-profit Board of Directors.

During the past three years I have served on the Responsible Investment Committee of the Trustees and the past year served as chair of this committee. I also served on the Apportionment Task Force. Elect (1) Clergy and (1) Lay
The Very Rev. Michael Hopkins St. Luke & St. Simon Cyrene, Rochester Born and raised in this Diocese, I am eight years rector of St. Luke & St. Simon Cyrene. Member of Diocesan Council 2005-2009. Dean of Rochester District since 2011 and currently serving on Constitution & Canons and the chair of the Resolutions Committee. The Standing Committee often has to interface with the larger church, as a General Convention Deputy and long-time member of many national organizations, including President of Integrity, I know it well.
Mr. Neil Houghton St. John’s, Honeoye Falls Moving this diocese forward is my primary concern. As council of advice to the Bishop, the Standing Committee can help focus more on timely, responsive and compassionate communications within the diocese and our communities. We need to reach out to Christians who feel that “Christianity” no longer matches the teachings of Jesus Christ and have left or are ready to leave their churches. This is the only way in which we will grow the church we love.
Mr. Robert Sudlow Church of the Epiphany Participation in The Episcopal Church always has been central to my life. I’ve served my parish, the Church of the Epiphany, as Historian, Warden and currently sit on the Vestry. I’ve served on Diocesan Council, as Chief Teller for several conventions, and on the Standing Committee (2003-2007). I believe that my experience as Assistant Superintendent for Instruction for the Spencerport School District, plus what I’ve learned serving the church will help me be a productive, contributing member of the Standing Committee. Mr. Dick Van Belzen Christ Church, Pittsford I’m proud to be an Episcopalian and as I/ my family have been enriched by the worship and liturgy for many years in small and large parishes. At Christ Church Pittsford, I’ve served in the following roles: warden, vestry, usher, chalice bearer, search committee, capital campaign and stewardship. I’m also a diocesan delegate. My work life is as the managing director and strategic advisor at Northpoint. I hope to combine my parish, diocesan and professional work experiences to support our canons, ministry and our bishop.
Commission on Ministry
Elect (3) Clergy
The Rev. Ken Pepin Episcopal SeniorLife Communities As a fairly new member of the diocese of Rochester I bring with me more than 25 years of experience in ordained ministry. I have ministered in a variety of dioceses as a rector and have served on wellness committees, vocation committees and diocesan council. I enjoy walking with folks who are discerning and believe I can bring a great deal to this commission. It would be an honor to be considered for election. The Rev. Jennifer Zogg St. Paul’s, Rochester I was appointed to the Commission on Ministry in 2009 and have served as Chairperson for the past year and a half. During that time, I have guided the revision of the discernment and ordination processes, the expansion of COM to support the ministry of all the baptized, and the development of mentoring support for newly ordained clergy. I look forward to the opportunity to continue to serve and shape our ongoing work.
Commission on Ministry

Ms. Elizabeth “Libby” Campbell St. John’s, Canandaigua By developing the vision and materials to bring discernment guidance to the parishes of this diocese, in order to empower the Laity to recognize and utilize their unique gifts as opportunities for ministry moves us closer to God’s vision and our mission. Having served for one year already and, with my Spiritual Direction “predilection” and training, as well as my experience on two local discernment committees, the intention of this committee is especially close to my heart.
Disciplinary Board
Elect (1) Clergy and (1) Lay The Rev. Mary Ann Brody St. Stephen’s, Rochester I’ve served the diocese in a number of capacities in the past: Seminary Debt Task Force, Transition Committee for our last bishop search, Commission on Ministry & the Episcopal School Exploratory Team. I have served one year on the new Disciplinary Board and have learned much about the process. Though I hope we don’t have to meet, I expect my skills as a discerning listener; thoughtful communicator and non-anxious presence would be helpful. Jeremy Cooney, Esq. Christ Church, Rochester As an attorney and dedicated member of this Diocese, I seek this position to offer my perspective on the challenging issues that sometimes arise within our faith community. I believe that discretion and thoughtful-care are two values most important to the Disciplinary Court, and I will uphold them if selected serve. Thank you.
