2012 Jingle Brawl Official Rules December 15, 2012 10:00am - 3:00pm 25 Min running time Games will start on the hour and half hour exactly Each team is guaranteed 4 games No time outs except for injury

Personnel:  

Each team can have a maximum of 5 runners & 1 goalie on the floor at one time. Exception: If a delayed penalty is called the goalie may leave the floor for an extra runner. (ie hockey)

Face Offs:   

A face off will occur after every goal. 1 face off man in center circle, max 3 players behind defensive blue line, 2 behind offensive blue line After whistle players are released from blue line but MAY NOT enter center circle until possession is garnered by face off player or ball comes out of circle.

Over & Back 

When the ball is in the offensive half of the field and goes back behind the defensive BLUE LINE it is an over and back and will be a change at possession. Ball will be awarded to the other team in the refs crease at midfield. Exception: On a shot that hits pipe or any player on the defensive team and rolls back over the defensive BLUE LINE.

Crease Violations 

It’s a little different than field in that it is not a NO FLY ZONE entirely. After a shot if an offensive player steps through the crease because of momentum it is not a violation. If an offensive player cuts through the back “corners” of the crease it is NOT a violation as long as he doesn’t gain an advantage but cutting through. A defensive player MAY NOT pass the ball back to his goal keeper. Possession outside the crease, passed back into the crease by any player results in a turnover.

Out Of Bounds 

If the ball goes over the glass and touches the netting or goes into a bench it is the last person touching the ball (can be the goalie on a shot) that is considered to have put it out of bounds and possession is awarded to the other team.

Penalties  

All penalties will be 2:00mins running time from the time the offending player gets into the penalty box. (Just like international field rules) Exception: Intent to Injure and Fighting will receive a 5:00min Major Penalty and the possibility of being ejected from the tournament. (We are here to play and have fun, not kill each other) Cross Checking: Allowable in a cross check hold fashion and in close proximity to the ball. Any off ball cross checking will be a 2min penalty

Penalties cont... Tripping: Any trip, intentional or not is a 2min penalty. Boarding: MUST PLAY BALL FIRST. Contact with boards is allowed, but anyone taking a run at a player into the boards will serve a 2min penalty. Hit From Behind: Any player body checking a player from behind will serve a 2min penalty. Slashing: Any hit to the head with a stick or violently slashing any part of a players body will serve a 2min penalty. Hooking: This is impeding the players movement with your stick. (ie holding in field) 2min penalty. Unsportsmanlike Conduct: Any player acting in a unsportsmanlike manner (getting in refs face, etc) will serve a 2min penalty. At the discretion of the ref you may be ejected. Fighting: Pushing & Shoving 2mins. Punch thrown 5min. Refusing to break it up 10min & possible ejection. Don’t forget if a delayed penalty is called the goalie may leave the floor for an extra runner. (ie hockey) Whistle is blown when offending team gains possession of the ball. These are the only major differences from field lacrosse. Lastly, we are here to play some lacrosse and have some fun. Let’s make sure we all behave like it.
