12.1.2 SURFACE PREPARATION: 1. GENERAL: Surface preparation shall be in accordance with the manufacturer's technical information and as given below. 2. METAL SURFACES: All metal surfaces shall be sand blasted clean so that no paint, rust, or foreign material is present on metal. The blasting medium shall not be silica sand. Prep bare metal in accordance with manufactures recommendations.
12.1.3 PAINT SYSTEMS: 1. GENERAL: Selected paint system for any particular item shall consist of specified primer coat(s), intermediate coat, and finish coats from the same manufacturer. 2. 2. ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT: Indoor and outdoor electrical equipment shall have the manufacturer's standard ANSI 70 (gray), shop-applied, permanent paint system. Corrosion resistant (galvanized, aluminum, copper, and etc.) surfaces shall not be painted. The paint system shall provide a minimum of 10 years corrosion-free protection. Inspect equipment surfaces at time of delivery and notify the COR of any damage. Repair damaged paint surfaces as recommended by the equipment manufacturer. Painting repair for Government-furnished equipment shall be paid in accordance with the contract clause titled "Changes". 3. OUTDOOR ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT (EXISTING), STEEL STRUCTURES, EXTERIOR SURFACE OF METAL OIL STORAGE TANKS, AND STEEL MEMBERS IN CATTLE GUARDS: 4. Paint system shall be equal to one of the following: (1) Keeler & Long, Inc. (Ferrous Metal and Galvanized Surfaces): 1) Intermediate Coat: Tri-Polar Ferrite Primer No. 600, color red, flat, 2.0 to 3.0 mils dry film thickness.
2) Finish Coats: Poly- Poly-Silicone Enamel KLPC1 Series, color sky gray, gloss, 1.5 to 2.5 mils dry film thickness. (2) Tnemec Company (Ferrous Metal and Galvanized Surfaces): 1) Intermediate Coat: F.C. Typoxy Series 27, color light gray, flat, 4.0 to 6.0 mils dry film thickness. 2) Finish Coats: Endura-Shield Series 1074, color light gray, gloss, 2.0 to 3.0 mils dry film thickness. The location of tanks and details about each site has been included as well as a location/vicinity map for each site. All waste materials are to be removed from the sites and discarded by the contractor in the proper manner. No materials are to be left on-site once the jobs are completed. Job must be completed no later than 60 days after Notice-To-Proceed. Site Locations: Bismarck Substation is located from I-94 (Bismarck) Exit 161; Head south on Bismarck Expressway for 1.4 miles, Turn left at E Rosser Ave and follow to site, (707 N Bismarck Expressway. A location/vicinity map has been included for your convenience. Fargo Substation is located from I-94 (Fargo) Exit 346A; Head south on County Rd 17 for 1.4 miles, Turn Right at 32nd Ave W and follow for 2 miles, Site is on the right. A location/vicinity map has been included for your convenience. Point of Contact: Marc Kress is the Western Area Power point of contact for the work. The work must be scheduled prior to performance with Marc Kress and that performance can only take place Monday-Thursday between 7:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. CST. Upon scheduling the work, with the point of contact/CO will schedule a Western employee to be on-site for access and supervision. Contractor Personnel: The contractor shall have a competent on-site representative authorized to act on behalf of the contractor, available to the CO to receive instructions or information regarding work under the contract. The on-site representative must be able to fluently speak and understand English. The on-site representative shall provide a phone number where he/she can be contacted 24 hours per day 7 days a week.
The contractor shall furnish adequate supervision at the premises to ensure that work is performed in a satisfactory manner. It is the responsibility of the contractor to maintain close surveillance over personnel employed to perform work on the contract. No unauthorized personnel are permitted on the premises. Safety Plan A Safety Plan is required to be submitted to the CO within 10 calendar days after contract award. Western’s approval of the plan is required prior to the commencement of work. Work Schedule Within 10 calendar days after contract award, the contractor shall submit to the CO, a complete work schedule for approval.
