Notes: • Metro State is 2-1-1 despite last year’s leading scorer Danny Arrubla remaining without a point through four games.
• Danny Arrubla had five multi-goal games this season as a freshman, including two in twice last week.
• The five goals allowed in the 5-2 loss to St. Edward’s on Sept. 13 were the most allowed since 2007. • Newcomer Keegan Hand was named RMAC defensive player of the week on Sept. 17 after playing 114:22 scoreless minutes in goal, making five saves. • Hand joined the team on Sept. 12, played off the bench on Sept. 13 and started on Sept. 15, recording a solo shutout against Newman (Kan.). • MSU Denver went 3-0 in exhibitions, winning 2-0 over Laramie County C.C., 1-0 over Northwestern (Iowa) and 5-0 in its annual alumni game. • The win in the alumni game snapped a two-year losing streak in that series. • Brenden Hughes led the Roadrunners with three preseason goals and Jack Mayfield, Andy Lopez, Kevin Pocalyko and Makir Oropeza each had one.
• Freshman James Tanner played every minute during the preseason in goal, posting a 0.00 GAA and making 13 saves. 2012 Notes: • Metro State finished the season 12-7-1 overall after a 2-0 loss to No. 23 Colorado Mines in the RMAC tournament semifinals. • Pierce Galan scored his first career goal for the game-winner on Oct. 31 against Fort Lewis, a 3-2 victory in the quarterfinals of the RMAC tournament.
• Arrubla scored two goals and had an assist at Colorado Christian on Oct. 3 and had two goals in a 3-2 loss at No. 3 Regis on Oct. 7. • Arrubla added a multi-assist game with a pair on Oct. 12 against CCU.
