2014 UNIVERSITY OF VICTORIA NIKE SPRING SOCCER CLASSIC TOURNAMENT INFORMATION Rosters: Your team roster needs to be handed in to the tournament desk or to Tracy David prior to your team’s first game. There is no maximum number for your team’s roster. Tournament Desk: The Tournament Desk is located at the entrance to field #3. All results and updates will be kept at the desk. Fields: Fields 2, #3, #4 and stadium are the fields being used for the tournament. Fields 2 and 3 are artificial turf fields. Field 4 and the stadium are grass pitches. All fields are located at the University of Victoria. A field map will be e-mailed to you. Parking: There are parking lots located by the Centennial Stadium. Parking will be an issue, as our new Athletics and Recreation building (CARSA) is being built on the former parking lot by the artificial turf fields. The Stadium parking lot (Lot 4) is accessible off McKenzie by turning right onto McGill. The parking lot is the first left on McGill. Since exams are going on, parking may be difficult to find depending on when your team is playing. Please note that parking is limited in Lot 2 due to the construction of our new Center for Athletics Recreation and Special Abilities. Lot 7 is also available for tournament parking. You will need to pay for parking. Daily rates are $7.00/day or $1.25/hour. Bus Parking: If your team is travelling by bus, there is an actual bus parking lot located in lot 10, which is complimentary. Your bus driver would need to drop your team off first and then park the bus. The bus parking lot is located off of Gordon Head Road. If the bus driver dropped your team off and got back onto McKenzie heading away from the University, they would need to turn left on Gordon Head Road. They would drive by Campus View School (on right) and then take the next left into Parking Lot 10. Concession: There will be a concession located at the tournament desk on field 3. There will also be tournament t-shirts for sale.
Athletic Therapists: There will be an athletic therapist scheduled for most if not all of the tournament hours. The AT will be located at the tournament desk. If your athletes want to be taped, they need to supply their own tape. Team Warm-ups: There is very little space for teams to warm up, as we are using all available fields. Tournament T-shirts: If your team ordered tournament T-shirts, they will be available on Thursday afternoon! They can be picked up from the tournament desk. I had to pre-order tournament shirts so if your team missed the deadline there are still shirts available. They will be at the tournament desk. Team MVPs: Nike have supplied T-shirts for the team MVPs .You will be approached during your team’s last game to nominate your team’s MVP. One of the Vikes women’s soccer players will make the presentation after your last game. Tournament Champion T-shirts: Nike have supplied 20 T-shirts to the Tournament Champions. These will be presented after the Championship game. Campus Tours: Our UVic Welcome Center offers free 90minute tours; open to students, parents and coaches, at 1:00 p.m. each day during the tournament (Thursday, Friday and Saturday). There will also be washrooms open at the McKinnon Building (Physical Education Building). This building is located right beside the field hockey pitch, which is located beside field 2.
