The Boys & Girls Club and Family Center of Bristol is committed to creating and BOYS & GIRLS CLUB providing an environment that AND FAMILY CENTER OF BRISTOL inspires and enables all young people and families to mature into caring, responsible and productive citizens. We develop and provide a variety of highly effective programs that address the varied needs of youth and families in Bristol and the surrounding communities. Our dedicated staff and highly committed board of directors diligently work together to ensure that individuals we serve are provided with experiences that lead to life enhancement and character development.

Fiondella Charity Golf Tournament
The Salvation Army - The Salvation Army Bristol Soup Kitchen provides temporary assistance for those who find themselves in need. Five days a week, the unemployed, under employed and chronically impoverished are provided a hot, nutritious meal. While receiving a meal, volunteers, staff and Salvation Army Officers, engage clients to learn more about their situation and develop a trusting relationship. Through this, other services are made available in hopes of helping clients overcome obstacles and gain life skills, enabling them to become self sufficient and move beyond crisis. Last year, more than 17,700 meals were served. Other services available at The Salvation Army in Bristol include our food pantry, clothing vouchers, counseling, and referral. Literacy Volunteer Organization of Greater Hartford (LVGH) is an accredited affiliate of ProLiteracy America founded in 1972. Recognized as the largest private provider of adult literacy services in the Greater Hartford area, LVGH is known for cutting edge, student-centered, technology-enriched curriculum that successfully meets the needs of very low literate adults. Our mission is to improve the ability of Greater Hartford adults to read, write and speak English, and our vision is to build a stronger, more resilient Greater Hartford by creating a community of fully literate adults. Classes are offered in Basic Literacy, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Math Literacy, Citizenship, Writing, Pre-GED, and GED. Over 650 students are served each year in our Hartford, East Hartford, and Bloomfield centers.
