Highlights
WPX Energy specializes in producing oil, natural gas and natural gas liquids from non-conventional resources such as tight-sands and shale formations.
Our oil wells are located on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation.
•P roved reserves of 119 million barrels of oil equivalent in the state
Over the past three years, we paid almost $350 million in royalties for our oil production on the reservation, including $154 million in 2014, $109 million in 2013 and $86 million in 2012.
•P lanning to invest $200 million for drilling in North Dakota in 2015
We have three decades of experience in our industry and more than 40 awards for corporate social responsibility. We were honored in 2014 for ethics, exploration and best practices.
Our Local Story WPX has been active in the state since late 2010. Today we operate or have an interest in approximately 200 wells that produce oil from the Bakken and Three Forks geologic formations. Our operations are focused on 85,000 net acres on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation. We have 70 employees in the state who work from offices in Killdeer, Minot, Mandaree and New Town. We entered the state via a $949 million acquisition of Dakota-3 E&P Company LLC. We also have invested $1 billion in local drilling and development over the past two years.
We also have provided grants for these tribal initiatives: •A new passenger van for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Three Affiliated Tribes
•P articipated in 53 new oil wells in 2014, along with 51 in 2013 and 41 in 2012 •O ur North Dakota oil production increased 48% in 2014 to 19,500 barrels per day •O ur oil production generated $64 million in tax revenue for the state last year
•E mergency-related equipment for Elbowoods Memorial Healthcare Center
•O ur 2014 statewide payroll was $6.5 million
• The Three Affiliated Tribes employee appreciation day
•C ontributed $100,000 to the state’s Housing Incentive Fund to help develop affordable housing
•R ed Sage Organization for economic development and education • The Three Affiliated Tribes Fire Management Program • OSHA safety training at Fort Berthold Community College
•P articipating in industry program to protect Lake Sakakawea from risk of spills •W e have hired more than 450 vendors and service providers in North Dakota
