The Salukis open their season in Orlando against Delaware, Northern Colorado and Central Florida. SIU has faced Northern Colorado and Central Florida twice each, but has never seen Delaware. The Salukis last played Northern Colorado in 1982 and Central Florida in 1992. In 2014, Delaware finished 15-17, Northern Colorado finished 22-11 and Central Florida finished 25-8.
PRESEASON RANKINGS
The Salukis are predicted to finish the season in fourth place in the Missouri Valley Conference after receiving 72 points and one first place vote from the annual preseason poll voted on by league coaches. SIU falls just four points shy of Northern Iowa in third place with 76 points. Senior Taylor

Pippen was also selected as a member of the MVC Preseason All-Conference team for the second year in a row. Last year Pippen finished the season with a record-breaking hitting efficiency, leading the Valley and ranking 11th nationally with a .410 percentage.

This year’s team returns several key players from last season, with only two new additions to the squad and 13 veterans. The team consists of one freshman, eight sophomores, five juniors and one senior, Taylor Pippen (290 kills, 107 blocks). All of the Salukis’ setters and attackers are returning from last year, including junior right side Meg Viggars (227 kills, 534 assists, 235 digs, 86 blocks), sophomore Andrea Estrada (322 kills, 274 digs, 44 blocks), and sophomores Abby Barrow (223 kills, 25 blocks) and Nellie Fredriksson (160 kills, 82 blocks). will once again distribute the ball to the SIU offense.
BATTLE FOR LIBERO
After losing graduated senior libero Alex Rivera, the Salukis have filled the void with a talented set of liberos in junior Mariana Pilon, true freshman Tara Routliffe and sophomore Ashley Edelen. Pilon, a transfer junior from Salt Lake CC, led her team in digs with 4.72 digs per set for 529 total digs last season, which ranks second in Salt Lake CC volleyball history. Last season, Edelen averaged 1.09 digs per set and played in 14 matches for the Salukis. Standing at 5’10”, Routliffe’s height works to her advantage, as she’s able to reach and receive more balls. According to head coach Justin Ingram, the position will likely see changes and fluidity throughout the season due to the talent across the board.

2015 SALUKI VOLLEYBALL 2014 SEASON REVIEW
The Salukis concluded the 2014 season with a 16-15 overall record, 10-9 in the MVC, after the team’s third consecutive appearance at the conference tournament. A secondhalf surge swung the momentum in the Salukis’ favor, helping them close out the season with crucial 3-2 victories over Northern Iowa and Missouri State to go 10-8 during regular season conference play. The Salukis clinched a spot at the MVC tournament, where they faced fourth-seeded Missouri State and ultimately fell 3-0 to end the season and tournament run.
2014 TEAM ACCOLADES
At the conclusion of the 2014 season, Taylor Pippen was named First Team All-Conference for the second consecutive year, followed by Meg Viggars on Second Team All-Conference and Andrea Estrada on the MVC All-Freshman Team. Pippen also earned MVC Scholar Athlete First Team accolades, followed by Hannah Kaminsky, Alex Rivera and McKenzie Dorris who were named to the MVC Scholar Athlete Honorable Mention team. Abby Barrow was named to the All-Tournament team following the MVC Tournament. The team also earned its tenth-straight AVCA Team Academic Award for finishing the 2014-15 school year with a 3.44 cumulative GPA.

the Hens after starting all 32 matches last season and ranking sixth in the Colonial Athletic Association Conference with 3.21 kills per set. She also ranked third on the Blue Hens with a .224 attack percentage, and was fifth with 57 blocks. Junior Julia Anderson returns as Delaware’s main setter, totaling 898 assists last year. On defense, junior libero Taylor Hollingsworth will lead the Hens after finishing 2014 with 585 digs to average five per set.
SCOUTING NORTHERN COLORADO
Northern Colorado returns several key players to this year’s squad, including a pair of All-Big Sky players in senior hitter Kendra Cunningham (371 kills, 336 digs) and junior setter Ashley Guthrie (1,267 assists, .324 hitting efficiency). The Bears’ defense returns a veteran back row, including senior libero Meagan Garcia along with juniors Makenna Meier and Audrey Landry. Last year, Garcia led the team with 466 digs, averaging 3.88 per set. UNC last faced the Salukis in Provo, Utah in 1982 with the Bears taking the match 2-1.

SCOUTING CENTRAL FLORIDA
The UCF Knights welcome several new faces to the team this year, with seven true freshman added to their roster. UCF lost key players in Jale Hervey and Marie Reiterova who led the team with 427 kills and 806 assists, respectively. Of the returning players, however, junior Kia Bright and senior Dana Faught will lead the Knights. Last year Bright finished with solid numbers on both offense and defense, contributing 371 kills and 330 digs, the second most on the team in each category. Faught averaged 5.42 assists per set, totaling 667 in 2014. Last year the Knights concluded their season with a first-round NCAA Tournament loss to Miami in five sets.
MVC ON ESPN3
This year marks the first year of a 10year agreement between the Missouri Valley Conference and ESPN, which will provide increased coverage of MVC sports through the 2023-24 academic year. All Saluki volleyball home matches, along with any conference matches on the road, will be carried on ESPN3. ESPN3 is free to all users and can be accessed online.

The Salukis open their season in Orlando against Delaware, Northern Colorado and Central Florida. SIU has faced Northern Colorado and Central Florida twice each, but has never seen Delaware. The Salukis last played Northern Colorado in 1982 and Central Florida in 1992. In 2014, Delaware finished 15-17, Northern Colorado finished 22-11 and Central Florida finished 25-8.
PRESEASON RANKINGS

Pippen was also selected as a member of the MVC Preseason All-Conference team for the second year in a row. Last year Pippen finished the season with a record-breaking hitting efficiency, leading the Valley and ranking 11th nationally with a .410 percentage.

This year’s team returns several key players from last season, with only two new additions to the squad and 13 veterans. The team consists of one freshman, eight sophomores, five juniors and one senior, Taylor Pippen (290 kills, 107 blocks). All of the Salukis’ setters and attackers are returning from last year, including junior right side Meg Viggars (227 kills, 534 assists, 235 digs, 86 blocks), sophomore Andrea Estrada (322 kills, 274 digs, 44 blocks), and sophomores Abby Barrow (223 kills, 25 blocks) and Nellie Fredriksson (160 kills, 82 blocks). BATTLE FOR LIBERO
After losing graduated senior libero Alex Rivera, the Salukis have filled the void with a talented set of liberos in junior Mariana Pilon, true freshman Tara Routliffe and sophomore Ashley Edelen. Pilon, a transfer junior from Salt Lake CC, led her team in digs with 4.72 digs per set for 529 total digs last season, which ranks second in Salt Lake CC volleyball history. Last season, Edelen averaged 1.09 digs per set and played in 14 matches for the Salukis. Standing at 5’10”, Routliffe’s height works to her advantage, as she’s able to reach and receive more balls. According to head coach Justin Ingram, the position will likely see changes and fluidity throughout the season due to the talent across the board.

2015 SALUKI VOLLEYBALL 2014 SEASON REVIEW
The Salukis concluded the 2014 season with a 16-15 overall record, 10-9 in the MVC, after the team’s third consecutive appearance at the conference tournament. A secondhalf surge swung the momentum in the Salukis’ favor, helping them close out the season with crucial 3-2 victories over Northern Iowa and Missouri State to go 10-8 during regular season conference play. The Salukis clinched a spot at the MVC tournament, where they faced fourth-seeded Missouri State and ultimately fell 3-0 to end the season and tournament run.
2014 TEAM ACCOLADES
At the conclusion of the 2014 season, Taylor Pippen was named First Team All-Conference for the second consecutive year, followed by Meg Viggars on Second Team All-Conference and Andrea Estrada on the MVC All-Freshman Team. Pippen also earned MVC Scholar Athlete First Team accolades, followed by Hannah Kaminsky, Alex Rivera and McKenzie Dorris who were named to the MVC Scholar Athlete Honorable Mention team. Abby Barrow was named to the All-Tournament team following the MVC Tournament. The team also earned its tenth-straight AVCA Team Academic Award for finishing the 2014-15 school year with a 3.44 cumulative GPA.

the Hens after starting all 32 matches last season and ranking sixth in the Colonial Athletic Association Conference with 3.21 kills per set. She also ranked third on the Blue Hens with a .224 attack percentage, and was fifth with 57 blocks. Junior Julia Anderson returns as Delaware’s main setter, totaling 898 assists last year. On defense, junior libero Taylor Hollingsworth will lead the Hens after finishing 2014 with 585 digs to average five per set.
SCOUTING NORTHERN COLORADO
Northern Colorado returns several key players to this year’s squad, including a pair of All-Big Sky players in senior hitter Kendra Cunningham (371 kills, 336 digs) and junior setter Ashley Guthrie (1,267 assists, .324 hitting efficiency). The Bears’ defense returns a veteran back row, including senior libero Meagan Garcia along with juniors Makenna Meier and Audrey Landry. Last year, Garcia led the team with 466 digs, averaging 3.88 per set. UNC last faced the Salukis in Provo, Utah in 1982 with the Bears taking the match 2-1.

SCOUTING CENTRAL FLORIDA
The UCF Knights welcome several new faces to the team this year, with seven true freshman added to their roster. UCF lost key players in Jale Hervey and Marie Reiterova who led the team with 427 kills and 806 assists, respectively. Of the returning players, however, junior Kia Bright and senior Dana Faught will lead the Knights. Last year Bright finished with solid numbers on both offense and defense, contributing 371 kills and 330 digs, the second most on the team in each category. Faught averaged 5.42 assists per set, totaling 667 in 2014. Last year the Knights concluded their season with a first-round NCAA Tournament loss to Miami in five sets.
MVC ON ESPN3
This year marks the first year of a 10year agreement between the Missouri Valley Conference and ESPN, which will provide increased coverage of MVC sports through the 2023-24 academic year.
