SCSU COACH SCOTT UNDERWOOOD: Scott Underwood is in his eighth season as the head coach at St. Cloud State in 2015. Underwood is the 12th head football coach in the history of Husky football. Prior to being named the St. Cloud State head coach, Underwood had been the defensive coordinator for the Huskies since 2001. In seasons at the helm of the Husky football program, Underwood has compiled a 62-29 overall record. He has placed SCSU among the nation’s elite NCAA Division II programs with NCAA tournament apperances in 2010, 2011 and 2013.

Nate Meyer completed 24-of-36 passes for 361 yards and three touchdowns against Bemidji State. His 361-yards passing was the fifth 300+ game of his career and his third of the season. The yardage total was the eighth-highest single-game total in school history Meyer has thrown for 1,979 yards and 15 touchdowns the last seven weeks. The quarterback has also shown his running ability with 214 yards on the ground the last five weeks. Jameson Parsons had 157 receiving yards against Bemidji State. The 157 yards was his third time topping 150 receiving yards this season. Only Fred Williams, five times in 2010, has reach the mark more in a single season. Parsons has recorded 100 or more receiving yards in five of the team’s last six games. In the last six games, Parsons has 39 catches for 792 yards (20.3 yards per reception) Grant Thayer recorded 102 receiving yards against the Beavers. It marked his second time over 100 receiving yards this season

Give the team a 5-4 or better record for the sixth time since Scott Underwood took over as head coach in 2008 and 10th time since 2000 Extended the Huskies winning streak over MSU Moorhead to nine games and make it wins in 11 of the last 15 games against the Dragons and third time in his career (102 vs. Bemidji State [10/24/15];104 yards vs. Minnesota Crookston [10/3/15] and 111 vs. MSU Moorhead [11/16/13]. Thayer is second on the team and has already recorded a career-high in catches (28), receiving yards (416) and touchdowns (4). His previous single-season best efforts was 20 catches last season and 356 yards during the 2013 campaign. He is one touchdown off matching his career-high of five touchdowns set last season. Thayer has now totaled 79 catches for 1,265 yards and 13 touchdowns in his career. His 13 career touchdown catches tie him for ninth on the career TD reception list with Tim Greene (2000-04). Thayer’s 79 catches are the 18th most on the career reception list. His 1,265 receiving yards are good for 14th in the record books. Sophomore Kasai Farris recorded a pair of touchdown receptions againsts Bemidji State. It was the first multiple touchdown game of his career and the second and third receiving touchdowns of his career. Sophomore Keyshawn Davis led the defense with his 12 tackles (10 solo). His 12 tackles are the most for the program since Brady Westart had 13 against Southwest Minnesota State (9/19/15). Redshirt freshman Isaiah Pitchford started at safety for the first time and recorded six tackles plus a stop for loss. SCSU only went 3-for-10 on third down in the game against Bemidji State, but are still coverting on 52 percent of the team’s third downs this season (50-for-96). The percentage is second in the NSIC and ranks them eighth nationally. The Huskies went 3-for-5 in the red zone against Bemidji State with all scores being touchdowns. SCSU has scored touchdowns on 85 percent of the team’s appearances in the red zone this season (34-for-40) and scored on 88 percent overall of all appearances in the red zone (35-for-40). SCSU is second in the NSIC and 22nd in that nation in red zone offense. Jameson Parsons has 45 catches for 888 yards the last seven weeks and has 46 catches for 915 yards and five touchdowns on the season. He also leads all eligible receivers in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference with his 915 total receiving yards and is fourth with his average of 19.9 yards per reception. SCSU is second in the NSIC in red zone offense (88 percent) and 3rd down conversions (52.1), third in total offense (468.4), first downs (95) and sacks against (10) plus fourth in pass efficiency (156.8), rushing offense (198.9) and penalties (48.6). Brady Westart is sixth in the conference in sacks (5.5). Craig Szymanski is seventh in the conference in tackles for loss (10.5) Senior running back Ledell White recorded 81 yards rushing against Minot State. He has rushed for a team-high 560 yards on the season and 2,226 yards in his career to move up to sixth place on the all-time list. SCSU’s all-time rushing leader is Matt Birkel with 4,920 yards on the ground from 2001-05. White also ranks 13th in touchdowns scored (22). Nate Meyer’s 361 yards passing against BSU gives him 4,178 in his career. That total ranks eighth in the SCSU record book. The all-time leader for St. Cloud State is Phillip Klaphake’s (2010-13) 11,261 yards. Meyer is also ranked fourth passing yards per game (219.9), passing efficiency (143.6) and pass completion percentage (59.4), seventh in passing touchdowns (31), ninth in pass completions (296) and in average yards per completion (14.1).

Senior defensive back Jordan Stefon’s 19 career pass breakups rank him tied for ninth place at SCSU along with Ted Bents (198689) and Marvin Matthews (2009-13). The school’s all-time leader is Eric Mickleson (2000-03) with 45. Eleven of Grant Thayer’s 28 receptions on the season have come on third down and all but three of his catches (25-for-28) have resulted in St. Cloud State first downs or touchdowns. His 11 catches on third down are a team-high. Nate Meyer is completing just over 64 percent of his passes (64.7%) this year (152-for-235). He came into the year with a career completion percentage of 54 percent (144-for-263). MSU Moorhead MSU Moorhead is coached by Steve Laqua, who is in his fifth season leading the program. Laqua has a 15-37 record since he took over the team. He is 0-4 all-time against SCSU. His teams have averaged giving up 51.25 points a game to the Huskies while scoring on average 26.25 points a contest. The Dragons are 4-4 on the season and 1-3 in the NSIC North after defeating Minot State by a 30-20 score last weekend. Prior to the victory on Saturday, the program started the season 3-0 before dropping the next four contests. Two of the teams that MSUM beat in the early portion of the season defeated ranked conference teams last weekend MSU Moorhead outscored Minot State 17-0 in the fourth quarter to pull away with the victory. The team returned a block punt for a touchdown while also outgaining Minot State 366 to 284. Zayne Medhaug is the team’s leading rusher with 105 carries for 407 yards and five touchdowns. Kayne Griffith is second on the team with his 346 yards on the ground Demetrius Carr has completed 105-of-162 passes for 1,446 yards and 11 touchdowns since taking over as the starting quarterback. Damon Gibson has been the squad’s big play receiver with 27 catches for 605 yards and five touchdowns. He sports an impressive average of 22.4 yards per reception. Cory Ambrose and Adam Jiskra each have recorded five receiving touchdowns this season. Michael Strand has been the top defender with his 49 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and two interceptions. Ryan Dahleen leads the team with his 8.5 tackles for loss.

St. Cloud State quarterback Nate Meyer threw for four touchdowns and rushed for two more to lead the Huskies to a 55-27 road win. Meyer finished the game 17-of-35 passing for 347 yards and four touchdowns and had 12 carries for 25 yards and two more scores. The Huskies collected a 541 yards of total offense, while MSUM collected 470 yards of offense Running back Ledell White rushed 28 times for a career high 169 yards and one touchdown. He scored on a three-yard run late in the fourth quarter. It marked the third 100-yard rushing game of the season for White and fifth of his collegiate career. Wide receiver Taylor Berger had five catches for 138 yards. Grant Thayer finished the game with three catches for 66 yards and two touchdowns. It marked the second straight game that Thayer had caught two scoring passes. Linebacker Brady Westart led the Huskies with eight tackles. He also had one quarterback sack and one and a half tackles for loss Kyle Risinger collected his third pick of the season and the Huskies came away with three interceptions on the day.
