2015 YCA PHOTOGRAPHY SPRING CAMP March 30 - April 2, 2015 For students ages 11 - 14 years.
The 2015 YCA Photography Spring Camp is your opportunity to develop your camera skills. Students will learn the basic principles of composition and photography, including how to use a digital camera, as well as the manual mode. Each session will take place at the Bermuda National Gallery, where participants will learn creative strategies while developing a portfolio of images. Participants will travel to various photo locations. The programme is open to all school students ages 11-14 years.
All skill levels are encouraged to participate. BNG 2015 Spring Camp: Policy, & Consent Forms 1. Registration & Payment: To register for BNG Spring Camps, you can submit application forms via email to
[email protected] or drop off at BNG front desk reception at City Hall, 2nd floor during gallery hours Monday - Friday: 10:00am - 4:00pm; Saturday: 10:00am - 2:00pm. Please ensure your submission forms include: • Registration form • Signed Policy & Consent form • Medical & Emergency form Full payment is required at the time of registration to secure a placement in the camp. You can pay by cash, credit card or cheque at the BNG or by emailing the camp registration forms with credit card details submitted to
[email protected]. (Installments can be pre-arranged with the BNG Education Officer if needed.) All applications submitted, processed and fully paid for will receive a confirmation email receipt from the BNG Education Officer. 2. What if I need to make a change (date, membership, schedule) to my enrolled camperʼs session? Schedules can change rapidly. We understand if you need to make changes to your camperʼs enrollment. Most changes in date and location can be accommodated until 14 business days prior to the start of your scheduled camp sessions, provided that there is still space in the session that you would like. Some sessions fill up quickly, so we encourage you to make your plans as early as possible. 3. Cancellation/ refund policy? • 14 days notice with 20% refund of camp registration fees • Any cancellation after 14 days will not be eligible for refunds or credits. Camp fees will not be refunded or prorated for any missed days due to illness, or unforeseen schedule changes. You must notify us in writing or email to
[email protected] of your cancellation by the above deadlines to in order to be eligible for any refunds. Phone calls to report cancellations and refunds will not be accepted. If your cancellation and/or refund is approved you will receive a confirmation email from the BNG Education Officer. 4. BNG Membership: Membership at the Bermuda National Gallery has many benefits. Members not only enjoy the knowledge they are valued supporters of the arts in Bermuda, but also receive free unlimited admission to the gallery, exclusive previews of our exhibitions, regular newsletters detailing coming attractions, invitations to member-only special events, and discounts. Membership upgrade/renewal: You can apply/renew/ or upgrade your membership to pay the Discounted Membership Camp fee at any given time during registration. Membership at the family level or higher only applies for the discounted camp fee. Family Membership $75 (includes spouse & children under 18 years). Privileges include: • • • • •

5. Morning & Afterschool Care Please note there is no morning and afterschool camp care. The BNG is not responsible for students outside of camp hours. 6. Dismissal at 4:00PM After 4:00pm, students will be dismissed from the YCA Spring Camp from the BNG. Please ensure that your child has organized transportation. If unforeseen weather and transportation issues arise, students may arrive at the BNG after 4:00pm. Parents will be notified via phone by the Camp Supervisor if there are any delays. Parents can also contact the Gallery after 4:00pm to receive updates on the location and schedule of the camp groups. If students need to leave camp early for another engagement, please call and notify the gallery. The BNG will not release any students without parent/guardian consent. 7. Contacting Instructors and Supervisors To contact camp supervisors during the day, please contact the BNG. If the group is on a field trip, you can relay messages with the BNG front desk receptionist who will try to contact the camp supervisors on your behalf. All phone calls after 4:00pm must be made directly to the Gallery at 295-9428. Cellphone numbers for camp instructors and supervisors will not be given without consent. 8. Disruption & Dismissal Any disruptive behaviour on your childʼs part will be discussed with parents/guardians. If this behaviour continues, the child will be released from the programme without refund. 9. Camera Equipment Your child will be loaned a camera along with SDs and batteries to use throughout the duration of the camp. Please report any damages, as there is a warranty. 10. Transportation & Bus Fare Please ensure that your child has his/her bus pass each day. Students without a bus pass should bring appropriate bus fare. If your child does not have his/her bus fare or pass, he/she will not be able to participate in the field trips. The BNG does not provide bus fare. 11. Field Trips For the duration of the summer camp, we will be taking field trips to different locations in order to apply knowledge that we have learned throughout our sessions. On various occasions we will be traveling by bus, ferry and/or on foot. We plan to leave from the BNG any time after 10:00am. The Bermuda National Gallery is not responsible for students who are dropped off at undesignated areas and incorrect time. In order for your child to participate, the Bermuda National Gallery requires Parent/ Guardian consent. Your signature on this consent package gives permission for your child to participate in the YCA Spring Camp Programme and puts him/her under the guardianship of the instructors and/or volunteers. 12. Lunch & Snacks Please pack a lunch for your child. The Bermuda National Gallery does not provide lunch. Do not send lunch money. The BNG is not responsible for any cash carried by students. • Please pack plenty of water/drinks. • Please ensure your child has a healthy breakfast and he/she refrains from buying milkshakes, donuts and other sugary foods for breakfast before arriving to camp. • Please do not pack unhealthy food i.e chips or sugary food. • Please pack a healthy lunch everyday to ensure students have plenty of energy to be able to participate in the programme actively.

13. Sunsmart Programme The YCA programme is accredited by the Sunsmart programme. Please apply sunscreen prior to arriving at the BNG and pack extra along with a hat and sunglasses. 14. Uniform & Footwear Your child will be given a red YCA shirt and YCA cap, which should be worn everyday. The shirt should not be cut or manipulated in any way during camp. Extra T-shirts can be purchased for $15.00 each. Students must arrive for camp properly attired. Students who are not properly dressed - micro shorts, mini skirts or heels - will not be allowed to participate in camp. Flip flips or beach sandals are not acceptable. Sneakers or comfortable walking shoes are required. Please also ensure students have their raincoats for rainy days. 15. Friday Student Presentation Please note that we will have a brief presentation on the Friday at 3:00pm displaying the studentsʼ work produced that week. We invite all family members to join us in this 1 hour presentation. 16. Portfolio orders and pick ups *All students will receive a portfolio of their works. Portfolios will take 3 weeks to process. Parents and guardians can order student portfolios for free if they are BNG Members. Non-Member ordering portfolios will be charged $20 per order. Portfolio includes discs of all student works. Portfolios will be emailed. Portfolio orders are non-refundable. 17. Photograph Consent Please note that all created photographs will be used only for the Bermuda National Gallery purposes.
