GRADING SYSTEM & GPA The high rate of student turnover in international schools and the diversity of assessment practices and procedures in the schools and school systems from which our students arrive prevent EARJ from producing meaningful rankings and cumulative GPAs; therefore, Escola Americana do Rio de Janeiro does not rank students and does not calculate a formal GPA. Starting in August 2016, EARJ students earn grades on a 1 to 7 numerical scale. Previously, and through June 2017, EARJ students also earn traditional U.S. grades on a 0-100 scale. Students earn a course credit only when they
