CAUTIONS • Heavy Timber is not an ‘affordable’ alternative • Everyone is still learning (developers, designers, constructors) • There are structural limitations i.e. penetrations, special loading requirements • ‘Shrink wrapping’ problematic • Municipal loading requirements • Hard to design significant building articulation • Emerging conflict with existing municipal policy against OBC • We have yet to see how well our trades can perform
