2016 Freebody Cup Rules Match Lineup 1. A match will consist of four doubles matches (A, B, C, D). 2. When players rated 1/2, 2/3, 3 or 3/4 drop down to play B, C, or D doubles, they must play with a 2, 3, 3/4 or 4 player. The only time two 1/2, 2/3 or 3/4 can play together at the lower position is if their opponents want to play the same match-up. 3. For Doubles, it can be any of the following combinations: a. A Doubles: 1-1; 1-1/2; 1/2-1/2 b. B Doubles: 2-2; 2-1/2 c. C Doubles: 3-3; 3-2/3 d. D Doubles: 4-4; 4-3/4 4. When a captain is forced to use a substitute of similar rating from another team, his/her team will lose 4 games from the total cumulative games match score (e.g. total 20 games becomes 16). 5. If a Captain cannot field a complete team, you could have one of your players play twice in that match. The only players that cannot play twice under this rule are the #1’s. 6. For the Championship match a player cannot be played twice. Substitutions from another team are allowed incurring the standard penalty as stated in #4.
Scoring 7. All play is no Ad Scoring. 8. Matches will be played for 45 minutes; including a 5 minute warmup time. 9. The winner of the match will be determined by the following: a. Play until time limit is reached or mercy rule goes into effect. i. Mercy Rule: If the point (games) spread reaches 10 the match will stop and the scoring stands at that point. Note if the Mercy Rule goes into effect players can stay on the court to play until the time limit runs out if they choose to. b. Each team gets a point for each game that is won. Individual matches can end in a tie. c. If a game is in progress when the time limit is reached, whichever team is ahead wins that game. d. If a game is tied when the time limit is reached a deciding point will be played to determine the winner of that game. e. How to play a deciding point. i. Serve stays in rotation. ii. The receiving team will decide which player will receive the serve. iii. If the receiver doesn’t choose a side/person and the point if played, the point stands.

Match winner is the team with the most points (games won).
Match Results 10. During season play, total cumulative points will determine winning team of each match. If points are tied, match will result in a Draw. In Championship Play-off matches, if points are tied, then individual matches will be used to break the tie.
Match Details 1. Match times are 5:30pm or 6:15pm every Wednesday (See schedule). 2. Matches will start promptly at the assigned time. (5:30, 6:15) 3. Matches will have a time limit of 45 minutes including a 5-minute warm-up time. See “Scoring” for how the games will be recorded. 4. Balls are provided. 5. Players should bring own water bottle. Additional water will be provided. 6. Captains are responsible for line-up, returning match scores, player attitudes, and making sure their players know the rules.
Rulings 7. Level D doubles matches will be played with the “green” tennis ball. 8. Commissioner Roberts’ rulings will be final; we play under the “Fosters” (Australian for beer) rules of tennis: 1 Infringement = 1 Fine.
