2016 Grant Application Port Blakely Tree Farms Environmental Education

Mission Statement Port Blakely Tree Farms Environmental Education Program (PBTF EE) seeks to promote public awareness and understanding of forest ecology and management in the Pacific Northwest. The EE program demonstrates the benefits and importance of managed forests in our daily lives. Through classroom presentations and field tours, we provide students opportunities to explore and understand our working forests. Port Blakely supports educational development activities that align with the mission of the EE program. In supporting educators that participate in the PBTF EE Program, we offer those schools and teachers the opportunity to apply for one of four annually awarded grants of $500 each. The grant monies could be used to support, but are not limited to, the following: • • • • • •

Student projects Field trips Teacher professional development Class supplies School presentations Schoolyard outdoor classrooms or enhancements

Please complete this form to apply for the PBTF EE grant. Applications are due by April 30, 2016 and will be announced after May 31, 2016. Grant check will be mailed within 2 weeks of grant announcement. Grant Amount: The maximum grant amount is $500. Qualifications: 1. Schools that, within the 2015-2016 school year, were involved in EE program. Teachers and/or their principals may apply. 2. Low-income schools - based on free and reduced lunches - will be given priority. 3. Grants must be used within the following school year 4. Recipient of last year’s award ineligible for this year’s grant (may only win every other year).

5. Applicants receiving grant monies will be asked to complete a Project Documentation Form AFTER the funds are spent 6. Grants awarded must be payable to school, organization, Parent Teacher organization, etc. Check will not be made out to an individual’s name.
